Mafia II demo dated for August 10 photo

According to a print ad in the latest issue of MCV, a playable demo for Mafia II is only weeks away. Set your watch, mark your calendars -- it's coming to Xbox Live and PlayStation Network on August 10.

Ahead of the demo's release, here's a tip for you: drive slowly. Hamza took a look at the game earlier this week and noted that "cops will chase you if you're speeding," adding "that's just dumb." Don't be dumb.

Mafia II is in stores on August 24.

Shouldn't the header read "Mafia II demo dated for August 10".

Not 24...

Anyway. Good. This is something I need a demo of before I'll risk my money. Even with all the damn previews.

No, Klarden...the Crackdown 2 agent will be playable in the demo version of Mafia II, which is available August 24th. Mafia II will be released August 10th, but you can't use the agent there.

Okay. I'll stop now.

"but you can't use the agent there [until the DLC comes out and charges you for it]"

Fixed.

While awesome in theory, realism doesn't make something fun.

Getting extra attention because you're speeding away from a huge red circle on the map will be a huge annoyance.

I always liked the fact that if you drove too fast in the first one you had the choice to stop and get a ticket or just try to escape the cops. It added interactions between players and npc. I could also be used in all different ways in Mafia II. Imagine : you have a body in your backseat, the police tries to stop you because you're going too fast. Do you try to escape? Try to hide the body under a blanket and pay the ticket? Stop and shoot the policeman once he gets to your window? It would add a nice touch in my opinion.
