Madden NFL 10 goes gold, will have two demos photo

It’s a big day for the Madden team at EA Tiburon: today, EA Sports officially announced (see PR after the jump) that Madden NFL 10 has gone gold. In case you’re unfamiliar with gaming industry lingo, “gold” means that the game is done -- all they’ve got to do now is press the discs. Madden 10 won’t actually be available in stores for just under a month, though (August 12th), so we’ve also got some details regarding the game’s demos to share with you.

Two weeks from today (July 30th), a demo featuring a classic football rivalry -- the Dallas Cowboys versus the New York Giants -- will be made available on the PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Marketplace. It’ll be a winter night game at the Meadowlands in blizzard-like conditions.

But if you pre-order Madden 10 at GameStop, you’ll also have access to an exclusive second demo in one week (July 23rd). That one will offer a full game -- four five-minute quarters -- between this year’s Super Bowl combatants, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Arizona Cardinals.

Frankly, I’m ecstatic to be able to play as the Giants in a Madden demo for the second year in a row. But is the bonus demo enough of an incentive to get you to reserve the game? If you’re still on the fence, check out 28 screenshots of the PS3/360 version of Madden NFL 10 in the gallery. For more on the game, hit up all of our Madden-related posts here.

Madden NFL 10 Goes Gold

To celebrate this development milestone, fans can look forward to two separate opportunities to play Madden NFL 10, on the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, before it is available at retailers nationwide on Friday, August 14th.

A free Madden NFL 10 demo will be released to Xbox LIVE Silver subscribers and the PlayStation Store on July 30th, featuring a night game in heavy snow with the Dallas Cowboys visiting the New York Giants.

Reserve Madden NFL 10 at GameStop, and on July 23rd, receive an exclusive demo featuring four, 5-minute quarters in a Super Bowl XLIII rematch, between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals. Visit GameStop.com or your local GameStop retailer for additional details.

Thousands of retail stores across the country will be conducting midnight openings for the blockbuster launch of Madden NFL 10 on August 14th. Check your local Best Buy, GameStop or Wal-Mart for details on participating midnight launch stores near you.

Experience first-hand what it’s like to “Fight for Every Yard” in Madden NFL 10 for Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3. With the all-new Pro-Tak™ animation technology, players have more control over the outcome of each play. Whether driving a running back towards the first down, or battling for a fumble at the bottom of a pile, the play won’t end until the whistle blows. Add to that the most immersive broadcast presentation and online innovation in franchise history, and Madden NFL 10 captures the authenticity and emotion of the NFL like never before.

This year, Madden NFL 10 arrives on the Wii with breath-taking visuals that will captivate both seasoned veterans and newcomers to the franchise. Completely redesigned and built from the ground up, Madden NFL 10 introduces a unique art style that will define the look of sports games on the Wii. All-new player models embody characteristics of your favorite athletes, plus new larger-than-life stadiums showcase the unique details found at each of the 32 NFL fields. Madden NFL 10 epitomizes what fun looks like on the Wii, delivering the most social and dynamic experience from the franchise to date. Quick, exciting game modes ensure that anytime is the right time for Madden NFL 10 on the Wii.

nice. Looking forward to my gamestop demo. I've kind of missed playing Madden these past few years!

wonder if anyone can answer a few questions that i've had trouble information on and will probably determine if i pick up this years edition. i have heard the online franchise mode will include trading and drafting but there will be no salary cap and no free agency. 2 very necessary features. any truth to that? also a coaching mode only franchise would be the way i'd like to go, is that in the game in the game?

A coach mode only? So you are one of the people who actually played Head Coach?

@bastardmaster: That's not exactly the case. For all the gory details, check out the online franchise FAQ on the Inside EA Sports blog.

@ Char
E-A-G-L-E-S, EAGLES!

As an Eagles fan, I am sorely disappointed in the choice of the Giants/Cowboys game for a demo. Oh well, at least I will be able to play as the Steelers and beat AZ. That will at least feel good. I think I may actually buy Madden this year even.
