Back in February, Mad Catz’ global PR and communications manager Alex Verrey assured us that stock of the company’s Street Fighter IV FightSticks would be “replenished” through March, April and May. It’s May and many of us are still merely salivating at the thought of purchasing a super sleek Tournament Edition FightStick at a non-bloated, retail price.
We recently caught up with Verrey and received an update on Mad Catz’ quest to put a joystick in the hand of every gamer who wants one. According to Verrey, Mad Catz has shipped new FightSticks over the last three months and will continue to do so in an attempt to meet the “overwhelming” demand for them. However, it appears that at this stage, you’ll still need a pre-order to receive one.
“Yes, more FightSticks have shipped and continue to ship on a monthly basis,” Verrey told us. “The demand is simply overwhelming but I can assure you that new stock will be arriving on a regular basis. “
“More will be available in May but due to the popularity, customers will still probably need to pre-order to guarantee picking one up. We ask for patience at this time, these are complex products that cannot be quickly manufactured but more ARE coming...”
One caveat to what Verrey told us: Best Buy, GameStop, Amazon, and even the GameShark Store are not accepting pre-orders for the FightSticks. In fact, they haven’t since Capcom’s Street Fighter IV hit store shelves.
But, hey, here's to still hoping Mad Catz sorts all of this out. Zangief's Ultra is practically impossible to pull off without a good joystick. (Unless you're some kind of super freak, and yes, we know you're out there. Somewhere.)

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
However, I will say something about Zangief's ultra being impossible. Not so much when I found out you can only do 1.5 full rotations as opposed to 2 full rotations. As for Guile's or Vega's ultra, those are impossible.
DAMN, Europe sucks.
You just sign up for that site, and put in your cell phone #. Then when any place has it available (for me it was best buy) you get a text message letting you know. Then it's just up to you to jump online and follow the link from wiialerts to the site that has it, and order up, son!
I ordered mine, but then it said that it was backordered. That lasted for about 2 days then I got an e-mail saying it'd been shipped. But yeah, everyone who's looking for one just use that site. Don't go anywhere near ebay.
Also Nicholson, you're nuts. Just spin the analog stick around like crazy and press the "all three punches" button. I don't know why people insist on using the dpad on the 360. Fuck that controller to begin with, but you really should be using the analog stick. Everything's way easier.
Most notable is the fact that the Tournament Edition uses genuine Sanwa arcade joysticks and buttons, the same ones found on official Street fighter 4 arcade cabinets in Japan. The joystick and buttons are far more responsive.
But the normal edition, the white one, is using crappy madcatz parts and has had a bunch of reports of defective units. Everybody knows the track record that madcatz has had, and they still haven't learned a damn thing. Just about anyone who bought the normal white one has had to mod the stick and swap out the buttons and joystick for better ones. In the end fixing it ends up costing nearly as much as the Tourny edition.
@HamalSharatan
The regular madcatz stick is 70 for PS3 and 80 for 360. The tournament edition is 150 for both consoles.
It's funny you mention Zangief's ultra, as my little brother seems to be able to pull it off consistently with the Xbox 360 controller. I don't know how he does it.
i was using a controller for most of the games you and I played at all.
Guile's super? I pull it off regularly but probably because i've trained myself for it since Street Figheter EX on the PSX. I can even pull it off on the keyboard
but but...Gief's super is a different story. FINALLL ATOMICCC BUSTAAAAAAAAAA

The new hotness
Now that BlazBlue stick... yum...
The PS3 version looks better and with more room to rest the right hand on.

Complex products? As if they're somehow more complex than any number of other electronic devices that are made on an assembly line in adequate numbers and in a timely fashion. I'm just going to make my own stick. From everything I've seen and read, there's really not much that's complex about it at all.
