Mad Catz Modern Warfare 2 stuff revealed photo

Mad Catz makes some sexy controllers, and it was announced last month that they'd be bringing that sexy to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 with some sort of controller or peripheral designed for the game. Yesterday we got info on all the dirty controllers and peripherals and, boy, are they... ugly? Don't get me wrong, I get the whole camo theme, but these are not that visually pleasing to the eye, especially when compared to the SFIV controllers.

It's not all about looks, though. The Mad Catz MW2 controllers (both for the PS3 and 360) have some rubber grips to make you more comfortable, and, more importantly, two extra buttons on the back of the controller that can be re-mapped to handle action buttons or thumbstick commands meaning that sprint or melee can be more easily performed. I'm sold right there as I hate clicking down the 360's thumbstick to perform actions. Other than the redesigned controllers for each system there will be a camo Bluetooth headset for the PS3, a camo mouse for the PC along with two camo keyboards and of course faceplates for the 360. Most of the items come in both black and white camo.

Oh, and just in case you're planning to look really official after you put on your night vision goggles, Mad Catz is offering a throat communicator for the 360. You'll be ready to sit on your couch in full army garb in no time! Full info and pricing after the jump.

Extra buttons? Can they be used for every Xbox game, or just MW2?

God I really fucking hate Madcatz. They've been trying to improve their image by making "high quality" accessories but they still fucking come broken or break easily.

I shit you not, my $150 Madcatz stick came broken. When I tried to contact their customer support about it they abruptly stop communicating. I wish they would go bankrupt.

Yeah, I hate pressing down the thumbstick too. It breaks the sticks more quickly.

Ok, while everything else looks like complete crap, the throat mic is pretty amazing. I dont think I would buy it, but it is pretty sweet to know it is there.

That throat mic is one of the most awkward things ive seen. I can wait until someone has a cold and we get to hear a close up of that lovely mucus

"two extra buttons on the back of the controller that can be re-mapped to handle action buttons or thumbstick commands"

That might be the only controller that's worth the money. I've noticed progressive wear and tear on my 360 controller because of the clicking.

Companies like Mad Catz are why I only buy official controllers and add ons for my consoles. Why risk it?

That's one fugly controller. The throat mic is a little inticing though, but yeah, the first thing I thought of was myself coughing or sneezing or sniffing. I tend to do that, almost as a twitch sometimes, when I'm playing multiplayer games. It's a little obnoxious. I don't know if I really want to submit everyone I play with that shit. Well, not everyone, but I think children could deal with some germs so they can get eye diseases and not play games anymore. I hate kids.

You can make a controller or keyboard that does that yourself for like £10-15 worth of parts each. The keyboard looks pretty damn cool, but in all seriousness this is just standard Mad Catz bollocks with a higher price tag.

Eww. Ugly.

That said it actually fits to game well. Just not my cup of tea.

I got the portable drum kit of theirs (which is awesome by the way if you have a huge ass coffee table) and my blue pad wasn't registering. I called GameStop who wouldn't give me a refund, then I called Mad Catz who then called GameStop and got them to give me a new one. I think you got a shitty rep.

I think the 360 controller looks nice, if only for the d-pad. I hate circular d-pads.

Those two extra buttons in the back sound amazing. Can you use the buttons for any 360, or just MW2? This might be worth a pick-up if I could use it for other games, as clicking down the thumb sticks to melee means you can't look around while doing so.

Eh, MS still doesn't allow third party wireless controllers and the buttons on the back aren't even fully customizable. Still, I'm intrigued.

What's fucking weak is how the 360 controller is wired, while the PS3 one is wireless. But at $50, it's not a bad deal.

Considering getting the darker camo 360 version of the controller. Another site had a video some weeks ago showcasing these controllers, and the white and darker camo versions come for both 360 and PS3.

The fact it boasts a new d-pad is a damn good reason to consider this controller.

As for the throat mic? I may instead look into getting a Turtle Beach headset.

Gawd, that 360 controller is atrocious, that darker camo PS3 controller is atrocious. I like the white PS3 controller and hate both 360 controllers - they could have made it look even bigger?! Also, wired controller is weak - thanks for proprietary wireless Microsoft, go suck a nut.

I have not bought a Mad Catz peripheral in a while. Are they still terribly manufactured pieces of falling-apart-in-the-packaging shit? They look cool enough, but so did Stormrise. But yea, has Mad Catz changed their standards/quality or is their stuff still be better off used as a paperweight?
