Luminous Arc 2 DS beams a few new screens photo

If these new screens are anything to judge by, the women of Luminous Arc look decidely angry. That could either be a total turn off or really hot to you, depending on how weird you are.

This is Atlus' second game in the strategy RPG series and is expected out this November (although if you are lucky enough to read Japanese, you may have been enjoying it since May). It features a suitably epic storyline where the world is consumed by its use of magic and critters called Beast Fiends are ravaging the land. In other words, everything you could possibly want from an Atlus SRPG.

I haven't checked out the first game, but having read reviews where it was called great fun because it refused to take itself too seriously definitely piques my interest. Anyone play the first one and would recommend it to a gamer new to the series?

I played the first one but wouldn't really recommend it. The touch controls drove me nuts on more than one occasion. The story is very standard. The art isn't bad but it is basically just anime standard along with all the characters.

Really, the game didn't grab me at all and it might be slightly better than I give it credit for but the game is average at best.

Another SRPG? How do the guys at Atlus keep cranking these RPGs out? Do they just have a template that they use for all of them?

@randombulleseye it wasnt made by Atlus it was made by Marvelous Interactive Inc. Atlus USA publishes for USA. Only games ATLUS Japan have made for the most part are Shin Megami series, Trauma center and a bunch of other small ones

I'd sort-of recommend the first game, but don't play with touch controls on. If I remember correctly you cna turn them off. The game is a pretty vanilla SRPG, but if you can deal with the lack of stand-outy-ness, the stry bits are somewhat amusing. Plus, this sequel has my name in it. Which is awesome.

I liked Luminous Arc. The gameplay was not revolutionary in any way and the voice acting was terrible, but it had Life with Kopin. The game was short for an SRPG, which I loved, and there were tons of characters with different fighting styles. The game screams out for multiple play-throughs.
