In the most shocking cliffhanger ending since NBC's
Heroes hiatus, the latest episode of
The 1up Show ended with news editor,
Luke Smith, announcing that he will be leaving Ziff Davis. His last day will be on April 27th.
This comes as a surprise to fans of the show and Smith, who has garnered respect (and healthy doses of haterade) for his hard-nosed approach to gaming journalism. What path he'll take next is unclear, but word is that he'll spill the beans on next week's
1up Yours podcast.
Whatever he decides to do next, we here at Destructoid wish him luck in all of his future endeavors. And wherever fate leads him, let's hope it involves a good shave, because he used to be so adorable.

still the best game journalist out there..hopefully he'll go somewhere respectable.
*lets out a Lukems trademarked "GAAAAAAAWWWWDD"
His best quality was voicing his opinions on 1up while others stood back and questioned his motives, or checking their pants to see if they still had balls. Don't get me wrong, the rest of the guys are great, but Luke is so unique.
His best rant (lately) has to be ripping into Microsoft about the Elite skew's price(March 23 episode near the Middle). For someone who has such love for his 360 and M$, its great to hear the voice of an everyday gamer break through in that discussion.
Looks like 1UP Yours is going to fall from #54 in the "Top Podcasts" list on iTunes. :/
