LucasArts teases 'Awesome news for old school fans' Monday photo

Breaking news: there will be news tomorrow. We bring you this news update to inform you of the news that news is on the way. Tomorrow. Says the LucasArts team via its Twitter:

"Amazing news coming Monday! Super excited! You have no idea how tough it is not to start yelling about it! But it's secret! Until Monday!"

Followed shortly thereafter by:

"Okay, we will do hints. It is awesome news for our old school fans. (anything more direct might get me in trouble)"

The tweets go on to say that it's got nothing to do with a new IP, and to reiterate that fans of the company's earlier work have quite a treat in store for them early tomorrow morning. What's the big announcement? Well, well. It just so happens that we here at Destructoid have an exclusive inside scoop. And that is that we don't know, either.

That's right folks, you heard it here first. No other news outlet will bring you word that we don't know what the announcement is before we do. Feel free to run wild with speculation in the comments. I'm going to go lie down now, as I've just confused myself.

This is obviously gonna be some "new" Day of the Tentacle game with boatloads of new CG cut-scenes, alternate scenes and of course cameos of Greedo and JarJarBinks !!!

Remake of the dig would be very nice and monkey island has already been taken. grim fandango would be best but it could be screwed up in the worst way, so I'll simply wish for The Dig and be grateful for that.

My guess, either a sequel for Grim Fandango, Day of the Tentacle or Full Throttle. Then again, it could be something like Scumm games on the Virtual Console.I mean, after all, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis was included as a bonus on the Wii version of the new IJ game. Maybe that was a test run for Scumm games on the Wii...

I honestly couldn't care less about anything Star Wars related at the moment (unless it's them announcing a proper KotOR 3 and not this MMO bullshit, but I don't think that would be for "old school fans").

But, if it's anything related to their old adventure game properties, then hells yeah. Monkey Island? We already know about that, unless this is about MI2 or something. A new Grim Fandango? A new The Dig? A new Full Throttle? A new LOOM? A new Maniac Mansion/Day of the Tentacle? A new Indiana Jones adventure? A new Zak McKracken? Any and all of those would be hot shit.

Get over it already. This MMO is part 3. And it looks like they're sticking very close to their roots, too. Honestly the game is shaping up to be a nice story-driven game in a genre sparse with story.

But hey, if you want to miss out just because you can't get over the stigma, then it's your loss.
