LucasArts releasing a trio of Star Wars content onto WiiWare photo

Three Star Wars-licensed SNES titles are headed to the Wii. Downloadable versions of Super Star Wars, Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, and Super Star Wars: Return to the Jedi are all slated to hit the Wiiware in the “coming” weeks. According to official release, each title will be priced at 800 Wii Points

The first title in this videogame trilogy, Super Star Wars, is available today.

If that isn’t enough Star Wars for you, give the “Check Mii Out” and “Everybody Votes” channels throughout the week. Nintendo and LucasArts have paired up to produce themed-content -- polls and Mii lookalike challenges -- for the channels.

Super Star Wars
is so forgettable, we forgot about it. But memories of Empire Strikes Back-induced controller slinging are flooding back. Let’s hope those passcodes still work properly.

Lucas Arts loves that rehash money!! First re-releasing all their adventure games, now this.

LA Devs:
"We are but a shadow of our former glory, my Lord."

"Dig into our massive library of games back when we were actually good, and sell them for $5-$10 apiece!"

"Brilliant!"

I already own working carts for all these games so I'll pass.

I'm all up for a re-release of the Jedi Knight games. Will probably pass on everything else.

Oh good. As if I didn't have enough reasons to punch my Wii, now I can download games on it that are specifically designed to give you a brain embolism.

That's not to say that Super Star Wars isn't good.

There's just no good goddamn reason for that much shit flying at you on screen at one time.

"IT'S A (nostalgia) TRAP!"

...Alas, I never played these as I was a Genesis kid. If a person were to buy one of these at some point, any suggestions? I take it that they are difficult, so maybe I should just ask which one has the best cheat codes? :)

When you said Wii-Ware you mean Virtual Console right?

It was doldrums there in the VC for a while but it's definitely exciting to see these titles available for download.

@ Blasto,

I consider Super Empire Strikes Back to be the best. It's also the hardest, in my opinion.

Super Return of the Jedi is easier, but similar enough. Also you get to play as an Ewok. So, bonus points, I guess.

I agree. The epic Vader confrontation at the end of SESB>>>>>>the hokey "flying Emperor"/lamesauce Deathstar escape. U

GH the frustration I had as a kid at that vehicle level!

I loved the Super Star Wars trilogy, despite how badly made they were.

"Super Star Wars is so forgettable etc."

You, sir, are talking bollocks.

"...despite how badly made they were."

Eh? They might be a bit buggy here and there (Jedi especially), but the first two were solid action platformers with some pretty good visuals. The third was was a bit duff, though (and that's being polite).

Super Empire Strikes Back is the most difficult. Super Star Wars is moderate and Super Return of the Jedi is the easiet game. All three are very good sidescrollers. I remember buying them for SNES back when the Special Editions were released in theaters in 1997.

I really liked these games back when I played them, but I don't think I'll pick them up.
