... Eternity's Child didn't look too bad either.
Obviously, with this being a game from Luc Bernard's new Wiiware/DS/iPhone company, I can imagine that the entire gamer community will be skeptical, but I hope that Bernard pulls out the goods with this new Advance Wars-esque strategy title, which has now been revealed as Mecho Wars.
Luc's wonderful art style is said to be complimented by an actual design document this time. Bernard and collaborater Shane Gill are handling all the concept, design and story. The programmer is being identitifed only as "Mr. X," but he claims to have experience with strategy games.
Bernard has some concept art up for Mecho Wars, which shows how he draws the characters and how Gill then turns them into sprites. You can also see a proposed screenshot which looks very much like an Advance Wars combat screen.
It's very hard to screw up a turn-based strategy, and since I'm personally overjoyed that Luc has returned to the games industry, I hope Mecho Wars turns out well. I'll be keeping an eye on it for sure.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Also, any word if there is good contoller support yet?
Sorry, could'nt help myself, :D

'wiisucks2'
really, I mean, really?
Not like Advance Wars. That. Is. Advance Wars.
Oh well. If you're gonna copy something, might as well copy something good.
That's only true if you have some amount of talent to begin with. When you have no talent however you just end up creating an insult to the series you're copied.
Then again he could end up making something better than Days of Ruin. Anti-tank units completely ****ed up the gameplay on ground only maps. So horribly unbalanced. They're cheaper than tanks, ranged artillery, can fire at point blank even though they're artillery, and they're some how immune to damage from tanks. I wouldn't be bothered by them so much if tanks could at least counter them by attacking first.
DoR multiplayer matches ended up being 2 hour bore fests as I slowly pushed my friend back with rocket units. Neither of us could use tanks because they'd just get wiped instantly by anti-tanks followed by rockets.
Now that I'm horribly off topic. Fuck you Luc.

But well with this time it having a good design and borrowing alot of elements from Advance Wars, if we screw up this I think I should just hang myself.
We'll see what happens :)
Mistakes are good, they help learn.
Welcome back to the ol' D-toid.
I really hope this game turns out well for you.
Good to have you back, Luc!
Also, I think you'll be happy to hear that Reaprar isn't around anymore.

I'll be keeping my eye on this one. I <3 <3 <3 turn-based strategy games like AW, so if this is -anything- remotely like that I'll probably love it to death.
Also props to Luc for havin the balls to come back.
that's why this game has a big long game design document, something that was forgotten while doing EC
Why has Reaprar gone?
