LoveSac, Destructoid team up for LoveSac NES Classic at Brooklyn's Barcade photo

If there's three things we love at Destructoid it's games, beer, and sitting down. That's why we're proud to announced that we've teamed up with LoveSAC, makers of alternative furniture and the GamerSac gaming chair, for the First Annual LoveSAC NES Classic!

The event will take place at Barcade in Brooklyn, NY on November 16 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will pit players against one another in a series of speed runs in classic 8-bit Nintendo games, including Super Mario Bros. 3 and ExciteBike. Side tournaments featuring the Super Nintendo versions of Super Street Fighter II Turbo and Mario Kart

Winners will take home prizes, including a grand prize of a fully-loaded GamerSac and -- are you sitting down? -- a bronzed NES Powerglove as a trophy.

While Destructoid staff is likely not eligible to participate, we never turn down the chance to drink, game, and have a good time. With that in mind, Tri-State Area Dtoiders, clear your calendars for Sunday, November 16. I'll be making the trip back up to my home state of New York for the event, and you can bet you'll see a few other familiar faces.

If you're looking to participate in the event, send an email to LoveSacNESclassic @ gmail.com with the subject line "registration." And if you're just looking to come out and have a good time, let me know!

About LoveSac:
LoveSac has been leading the underground movement in alternative furniture for over 10 years now and is emerging as the leader in media room seating. LoveSac was started by Shawn D. Nelson all the way back in 1995 with the simple idea of making a radically huge bean bag, but without the messy beans. This "Sac" was so enormous that it could seat 5 comfortably, making it the greatest gaming, movie-watching, media room seat on the planet. Before long LoveSac grew into a small nation-wide retail chain and has expanded its product line to include a full line of extremely unique media room furniture including the newly famous Sactionals; washable, changeable, extremely modular furniture.

About Destructoid:
Destructoid is an independently-run publication, driven by our love of gaming and this industry's dire need of accountable, enthusiast press. The company began as a one-man prank to gain admission into the E3 press conference. By creating a critical blog and protesting "stuffy games journalism" at the event by showing up in a giant robot helmet, Destructoid was born. Today Destructoid reaches over a million readers worldwide, and has become one of the largest independent gaming communities online, with operations in the U.S., Canada, and the UK. Known for its piercing views on the gaming industry and memorable robot mascot, the three-time Webby-honoree Destructoid (or Dtoid for short) is the pulse of the hardcore gamer. Its unique and often irreverent editorial voice remains true to our humble beginnings, as Dtoid works to brings the news, the fun, and its shiny robot head to the world of videogames.

About Barcade:
Barcade is located at 388 Union Ave between Ainslie St. and Powers St. in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and features over 25 vintage arcade games from the 1980's and a rotating selection of 25 American craft beers on tap for your enjoyment. Barcade runs on 100% wind power and just celebrated its fourth year in business.

Damn, I'd love to participate, but I'm on this side of the country. Still, winning a LoveSAC would be hot. I've got a SuperSac that I bought when I was in high school, and it's incredible.

I'm too far away to get there easily, so count me out. Sounds rad, though.

I fucking hate not being 21. Every time I hear about something going on at Barcade a little part of me dies. Oh well, 2 more years and I'll be visiting barcade quite frequently.

ive been wanting to goto barcade for some time now. because i , like alot of gamera, have always wanted to start/run a bar with video games involved in it, with stripper polls on platforms surrounded by arcade cabinets. also beer.

being the only place ive heard of like this you think they would try to get more games. but from what ive seen and heard its a small place.

I've only been to Barcade once about 3 years ago, loved it, fun as hell. They have around 12 brewed in-house beers, they even have a cappucino beer. And all above the regular alcohol limit too, around 6% to 9% alcohol. I don't live too far away from there by train, maybe I'll take the trip on Nov. 16 hopefully if exams don't get in the way.

Sharpless, just letting you that my offer from the emailer still stands if you want to come to this event.

I will be there despite the fact that I do not drink.

Can we have a drinking contest too? I probably don't have enough skill to win the video game portion.

Who is in?

Pfft, if you're over 21 you're probably too old to be playing games anyways. You should probably be out working on your career or whatever, ya know, saving up for that retirement plan.
