A LostWinds sequel had been rumored ever since the game's fantastic success at the launch of WiiWare. We hadn't heard much but we assumed it was a go and now we have confirmation with a new article in EDGE revealing that the game is coming and will indeed involve more wind. The game will be called LostWinds: Winter of Melodias and will once again be a WiiWare game.
This time around it looks like the devs have heard the few complaints that were leveled at the original game, especially about its length, and will be dealing with them in this game. The game will deal with seasonal changes and Toku will be able to change the seasons, switching between summer and winter in order to solve various puzzles. It sounds like it's going to be very interesting with plenty of new abilities (like a cyclone drill) and a bit more story behind it. Also good to hear is that the devs are hoping to use plenty of new ideas in the game as they're quoted as saying the first game was great, but they've got plenty more juice in their tank. No release date yet, but we have to imagine it'll be here this year.
Writing this reminds me that I never played LostWinds and now I really want to -- so I'm going to. Go away, it's alone time now, I'm gonna play with my Wii.

Between this, SMG2 and NMH2... it may be time for me 2 buy a wii again
YEAH!!! I'm really looking forward to this. The first game is loaded with potential. I hope to have a use for a fire cyclone in the new game!
If I had my own Wii, I'd be all over both, though.
It's WiiWare... =(
Still, the original was only 3hours long.. .but those 3 hours consisted of the most inspired and exciting gameplay this gen!
(Correct me if I'm wrong) I think the first one was a launch title with Wiiware. Maybe that's why?
Great game nonetheless, even though its short. I hope they expand on this one.
Agreed. $10 was well worth the truly memorable experience. One of the best $10 I've ever spent towards a videogame.
For example, here is the cyclone: http://www.frontier.co.uk/docs/image/LostWinds-ConceptArt/A3Printouts2.jpg
However, hope it isn't going to be forever in pay and play to circumvent the download limits ala EVERY SQUEENIX TITLE.
