You'd think that Resident Evil 5 would have been the more desirable and anticipated franchise if it were being compared to Lost Planet 2, but if the demo performance of both games are anything to go by, it'll be the less storied series that outshines the famous horror sequel.
"In 24 hours we actually got more downloads of the Lost Planet 2 demo than we did of Resident Evil 5," Capcom's Chris Kramer tells VG247. "That kind of astonished all of us."
Kramer couldn't divulge exact figures, but considering the fact that Resident Evil 5's demo was downloaded 1.8 million times in its first week, one can assume that a LOT of people acquired the Lost Planet 2 one. By all accounts, the LP2 demo was great, but even so it's quite surprising to see that it did better business than Resident Evil 5. Could bode extremely well for the game when it hits store shelves.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
But no they released it only in japan 1st then region locked it when almost all of the xbox community wanted it by the time it came out in other regions half of them didnt bother such as myself because i used that cd rip copy of the demo that was flying around at the time for the demo.
The thing for me is that I want to see how much they've improved upon the first one. I never finished the original because it became to repetitive, but underneath the flawed gameplay structure it had quite a bit of promise.
that could be why the demo's been downloaded more - with Resi 5 everyone knew what they were getting, with Lost Planet 2 there's scope for some change, also I could be wrong but doesn't the demo ship with multiplayer? That's an important factor (if I'm right, which I'm probably not).
And 4 players at that.
I spent an entire afternoon playing that demo because there's so much to do in it. Different weapons, mechs, fighting from the outside and inside. This demo bodes very well for LP2. Day one for me!
I can point you where you can GTFO -------------->
Dude, get a life.
But, i all seriousness man if YOU don't care then don't comment. You're like douchbags on YouTube who announce that they're unsubscribing from a user. We don't care that you don't like it.
You know, when people gave less of a shit? A lot of folk who really wanted the demo had acquired it already on their second Japanese live accounts.
I just want to knock them down a peg because I'm a right royal bastard. Even if it is quite an achievement.
No wait, those are called trolls.
There's a difference. You don't care about the article but you comment on how you don't care, like it's important. I'm actually interested in the article. I just don't care about your opinion. What makes you a douchebag is the fact that you don't care but found the time to comment on something you don't care about. That's like me blogging about how I don't care about tampon commercials.
"If you can care about a demo beating another demo, I can NOT care. Pretty simple to understand. And's there's dick you or Run Fatboy Run can do about it."
I can do something about it. I can tell you to STFUAJPG. I can call you the dumbest kid in the Special Ed. class. I can make fun of the "dick you or Run Fatboy Run" quote you just pulled. Or I can joi in with about 90% of D-Toiders and tell you to go back to being that very hated nefarious PS3 Uber Fanboy. When it all boils down you pissed off a bit of people with your comment and if you can't handle people disagreeing with you in a mature manner then all I can do is make like Mr. T and pity you.
You know, because I could run-and-gun.
There are lots of PS3 fanboys on here, and most of them are respectful towards other community members. Why can't you show a little respect to the editors and your fellow community members?
It's not hard.
Besides all of this, if you really want me to disagree with you about the PS3 I easily can. Trophies are a rip off, many games look better on the 360 even though the PS3 is more powerful, the online doesn't compare to Live even though it's free......
The list goes on and on. So if you want to have a fanboy fight go ahead and laugh at me for being on my 4th 360.
Point is I love all my consoles, even my barely used Wii. I prefer my 360 but you don't see me hating on the PS3 all day, do you?
Just be decent and civil and nobody will bother you.
Still nothing more satisfing than taking that motherfucker down for the first time though.
The coop is pointless though. Played online as a team of 4, and got a c rank each time. Played it offline single-player and aced it first time.
I'll note the reccomendation - I'm downloading the demo as we speak so if it sucks I will be coming to find you...
I keed, I keeeeeed!
...or do I? ;-)
