Despite the fact that Lost Planet 2 was revealed via Xbox Live, I had personally assumed that Capcom's sequel would be seeing a simultaneous release on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. However, if Capcom's wording has been interpreted right, we may be seeing yet another PS3 delay.
Here's the publisher's official word: "Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced that Lost Planet 2 is being developed for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, following an exclusive announcement on Xbox LIVE that happened Monday, February 23."
As you can see, no PS3 version has been announced, meaning that until further notice, this is a 360-only title. We fully expect a PS3 announcement, of course, but it may be that we'll see what happened with the earlier title, with Sony fans having to wait a year for their own release.
Doesn't make much sense to me, but then I'm not a publisher.

There will be most likely a PS3 version, but I'm not waitng a year like last time, and, in the small chance that I do, capcom better not make the port substandard and have a baffling four gig install. I did like the game a lot, but the fact that it was a sloppy port did show through.
@Necrozen
The control was awkawrd , the weapons were generic , t he maps were generic snow ; but it had mechas,grapling hooks and giant worms , so like Earth Defense Force it's stupid , but it had a undeniable "charm"...
Right on. Doesn't sound like it's for me.
It's much harder to make games for the PS3, so it's pretty much always the case that it comes to the PS3 later. What shape it gets there in -- that's another story.
That's... Interesting logic.
Personally, I don't think there's any way this won't come to everything the original did. There will definitely be a PS3 and PC release.
I loved the first one on PC anyways =<.
LP2 doesn't look anything like the first though, the setting is different, the gameplay looks squad/co-op based....plus all the new stuff like portable shields....I don't understand why so many people are thinking of passing this up because of the first one.
