Lose your head over new Tekken 6 screens photo

Namco Bandai has a round-up of some of the characters of the upcoming Tekken 6 (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360), including reveals for Alisa, Eddy Gordo, Lars, Marshall Law, and my boy ("Namu namu namu namu namu!") Yoshimitsu.

All of these screens look fantastic. Remember the days where we'd watch the opening cinema to fighting games, thinking to ourselves that we hope that games would one day look as good as the movies? These days are here, and these wallpaper-worthy screens from Tekken 6 prove that.

The new shots we have here are all great, but the ones of Alisa Bosconovich are especially good. I love her cute little dress and removable head. Enjoy these images as well as full bios of these five characters below.

Name: Eddy Gordo
Fighting style: Capoeira
Nationality: Brazil

Eddy failed to win The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5. He pleaded with Jin, who had become the new head of the Mishima Zaibatsu, to help him save his mentor. After looking at Eddy and appearing to think for a moment, Jin agreed to help with developing medical treatment for Eddy's mentor in exchange for Eddy joining the Tekken Force and reporting to him. Eddy knew nothing about the Tekken Force, other than it was a private military outfit, but agreed to join if it would save his mentor.

Eddy became a member of the Tekken Force and carried out plans of destruction around the world. Even though he knew the consequences of his actions, Eddy was unable to leave the Tekken Force. When the Mishima Zaibatsu announced The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6, Eddy joined the tournament as a member of the Tekken Force in order to eliminate those who would threaten Jin.

Name: Lars Alexandersson
Fighting Style: Karate
Country: Sweden

Force, defected from the organization.

Lars Alexandersson led the coup d'état. With an uncommonly high physical and mental ability, Lars become a ranking officer in the Tekken Force at a young age. Despite his high rank, Lars often fought in the front lines. Due to this and his friendly character, he was popular among his subordinates.

Only he knew the fact that he drew the Mishima bloodline through his father, Heihachi. Even Heihachi was not aware.

Name: Marshall Law
Fighting Style: Martial Arts
Nationality: USA

In the middle of The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5, Marshall Law's illegal employment in Japan was detected, and he was deported back to the United States. The due date for monetary damages caused by his son's accident was approaching, but Law had no means to deliver the cash and was completely out of ideas.

It was then that Law received an invitation from his friend, Paul Phoenix, to team up in the next tournament. Although certainly difficult alone, the likelihood of receiving the top prize money was higher as a team. After accepting Paul's invitation, Law realized that three people would be even better than two, and he set his eyes on the world-famous boxer, Steve Fox.

Yoshimitsu
Fighting Style: Advanced Manji Ninjutsu
Nationality: None (originally Japan)

Yoshimitsu was following Bryan Fury in order to take revenge for his fallen comrade when he noticed the sinister aura emanating from the spirit sword Yoshimitsu. The spirit sword, by its very nature, was in continuous pursuit of blood and drives its owner insane. Yoshimitsu had been suppressing the sword's power by supplying it with the blood of the malicious and evil. However, it was gradually becoming more difficult to maintain the sword's balance.

Left unchecked, there was a chance the sword may lose control, causing chaos and destruction, and seek out a new owner. In order to prevent this, Yoshimitsu attained the Fumaken, a sword with the ability to contain the power of the evil sword. At the same time, he joined The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6, where evil energy collected, hoping to return the balance of the spirit sword to normal.

I've never been a big fan of fighting games. But Tekken 6 keeps looking like a day 1 buy for me.

Looks good, but probably plays like Tekken. But who am i to talk, I'm a DOA fan.

They might as well go all the way with the backstories though. Like, maybe someone could ride in on a magical unicorn or something.

Isn't this game out?

It's been in my local arcade for over a year.

Damn, Yoshimitsu looks really cool. Looking at his new costumes is always one of my favorite aspects of a new Tekken/Soulcalibur game.

Wait, Heihachi has another son who is Swedish, or did I read that wrong?

Something about Tekken 6 honestly just hit me today, and I really really want to play it right now.

Just laying this out there now. Unless there are any drastic move/power changes, my Bryan Fury or Hwoarang will destroy you all. :)

Tekken is for losers that suck at real fighting games. And for Hitler.

Tekken is okay, I <3 3 for the PS1, but I already bought a 60 dollar fighting game this gen with Yoshimitsu in it (It starts with an S and ends with oulcalibur IV).

But I might rent it to see how it plays, as I have yet to play a Tekken since the PS1.

Did someone say Bosconovich? I would be a happy bunny if they had Dr. B in this game, or if Alisa at least shared his bizarre fighting style.

The best thing about these pictures is that they're NOTHING compared to what the game looks like in motion.

Being a Virtua fan, I cannot really call de Bloo's comment trolling. Tekken has always been pretty light on substance (opinion of a Virtua player) and heavy with both juggles and button mashing. I have always felt that the Tekken series valued looks (characters that many thought were uber-cool now just seem dated) and easy to perform combos over real challenge oriented gameplay.

I understand that Namco/Sony wanted to open up "fighters" to the more "casual" crowd when they launched Tekken, but I prefer the DOA series as an alternative to the steep learning curve (well not so steep if you played from the beginning) found in Virtua titles.

I will buy this game, but I believe that many of its design flaws are going to become much more obvious with online play. This was very evident in Soul Calibur, where people simply juggled opponents to no end. I don't look forward to Eddie Gordo combos that start well before he is even in range, and then as he gets closer, pop you up for an unrealistic 10 hit combo. That’s not really fighting, but some strange game of "Memory" substituting children’s cards with button presses. But as I mentioned, I will buy the game because I also thought the characters looked cool back in the day....I just don't consider it to be one of the "better" fighters.

I love fighting game themed beat 'em ups. I pretty much like all 3D fighters equally, except for Soul Calibur 1 or Rival Schools.

@tino The Tekken arcade experience thing is incredibly fucked up. If I remember correctly, the arcade Tekken 6 is actually Dark Resurrection. Or something along those lines. . . something like that. Can't remember exactly what.

This game looks fuckin gorgeous. And that header image is lulz.

Humor is funny, you are not.

And I hope the final boss in this one isn't some cheap asshole like Jinpachi, I like Tekken but having some fireball, teleporting, stunning asshole just killed the game for me.

I'm sure the giant flying fire-breathing crystal dragon last boss is going to be MUCH cheaper than Jinpachi. Shame, I REALLY liked Jinpachi as a final boss, his addition to the game helped the story and Mishima family REALLY unfold more. Also, it would be nice to have Jinpachi's normal form as a playable character in Tekken 6... hell, throw in Ogre, Devil Kazuyua, and every other last character in the series.
