Seriously, that is a REALLY dark looking game and I played through Doom 3 without the flashlight mod.
@Maniac I think they mentioned the actual game wouldn't be this dark.
Then there's the eating of rotten meat. If you don't eat it, you die. If you do, you might get very sick and... die. Or you might not.
The killing-of-others one is more morally interesting, but as AlexMorgaen pointed out, if you want gamers to feel for the people they kill, don't make said people be/look like zombies.
Finally, of course, there's the problem that with death as an alternative to these actions, you have to do them in order to continue the game. If you want to see what might happen next, or how long you can survive, you have to take the option that results in you not dying. If you don't kill someone, and die, that presumably ends the game. So you might as well kill them in the name of actually experiencing the game's content.
What might make this more interesting is if you had control of a group of characters, or rather, one character at a time, and when that character died, you took over another. Then (aside from the standard 'oh she's been bitten! Quick, shoot her!') your choices of whether to allow a character to die in dignity or continue living in ignominy/at the expense of others might actually matter. The characters wouldn't necessarily have to remain together - if they did, it'd be very restrictive actually; they'd all have to eat the same food, for instance. Jumping from storyline to storyline with the aim of getting *someone* to survive to the ending credits (assuming there are any; without some sort of motivating goal, I think the whole thing might get a bit pointless) would be a lot more interesting and force you to think more about your choices.
The more I think about it, the more fascinating that concept sounds...
Sounds like HEAVIER RAIN. get ahold of david cage. jims got him on ”breathe heavily into the phone at all hours of the night” speed-dial. Get the number from him.
This looks so close to the dream zombie survival game! Mind you, they said disease, nothing about zombies which makes it even scarier.
