Lone Survivor dev is uncomfortable with taking your money

2:00 PM on 05.04.2012

[Destructoid's Director of Communications Hamza Aziz asked Jonathan Holmes to make a show called 'Sup, Holmes?' so that Destructoid could later sell a t-shirt that says 'Sup, Holmes?' on it. This is that show. Download the audio-only podcast version, subscribe to the podcast feed and find more episodes here.]

Last week's Sup Holmes was one of our most talked about episodes, and the reason for that is -- Jasper Byrne is one of the most endearing human beings ever born. Though he's workd on big name games like Kinectimals in the past, his heart has always been in making Freeware titles (including Soul Brother, Soundless Mountain, and Rockabilly Head.

That seems to be a big part of why Jasper feels strange about selling his work. Despite the fact that he's poured enormous amounts of his own time and money into latest game (the critically acclaimed Lone Survivor), he still doesn't seem to feel right about taking anything in return for it. Maybe he's just not used to being appreciated this much. He's also the most humble man on the planet. I'm sure that isn't helping any.

The full episode with Jasper can be found here, and downloaded in podcast format here. Tune in this Sunday when we have Konjak, developer of Noitu Love 2 and The Iconclasts on for a full hour of passionate videogame development talk. It's going to be electric! Swedish too!

Review: Resident Evil: Revelations 2: Episode 1

Resident Evil is in a weird place. After the middling Resident Evil 6 and the public flogging of Operation Raccoon City, I'm sure Capcom got the message that it needed to go back to basics. It did just that with Revelati...more
