Referring to the clam shell bikini pic. :P.
@acetated
I dont think this would necessarily hurt the stereotype of video games and gamers any more than american pie hurt the perception of movies and movie watchers. Every genre has its serious pieces with a message and it's fluff. This game looks to be more of the fluff variety and there's nothing wrong with that.
Would be cool if we could at least get a Highschool of the Dead outfit. But maybe they figured that'd be alienating to the American mainstream. "Give us sexy cheerleaders, because go America! But anime-flavored sexiness? That's just sick!"
It was my favorite anime of 2011.
What is not to get? If you dont "get it", you never will. Being superior to the rest of us lowly humans must be rough.
Negative stereotypes from morons that dont matter shouldnt keep you up at night.
But when you play the polite and politically correct game, you always lose.
Also, is that a High School of the Dead costume? If the game is anything like that anime then I will have an awful love/hate relationship with it.
I think that's the point, in a way it's a satire of bad horror movies or dark comedies like Heathers. But here is something to contribute to negative stereo types.
"She might as well be wearing nothing at all. "
Yes please.
"What is not to get? If you dont "get it", you never will. Being superior to the rest of us lowly humans must be rough. "
Wow. Nevermind bro. Didn't think it meant so much to you. I'm sorry for everything. I sincerely hope things get better for you.
@Hugh
Yeah I see that. And satire can be a very effective way of fighting stereo types. I guess this game is trying to do two things - bring that satire and gratify those who fit the stereo type? Is that logically responsible?
lol "who gives a shit" is probably the best response.
BORDERLINE NUDITY?!
Preorder cancelled! Failure of the aeon!
actually, it still puzzles me as to why, as enlightened as we are supposed to be, that we as a society are still more okay with brutal violence than we are with bare breasts.
Not that it matters in this case, the game looks/sounds retarded.
I'm all for scantily clad women and all but I bet they will make millions of their "DLC". The cheerleader outfit went with the story a seashell outfit does not but hell, they released a swimsuit costume for FFX 13-2 for no other reason than it's a girl in a swim suit.
Yeah i will say that since all these pervo costumes have popped up i have lost a little respect for the game. I thought the clueless scantily clad blonde was a funny idea for a protagonist, it showed a good sense of humor. But some of these costumes are taking it to a level of perviness which starts to undermine the idea, but it is Japan, so I expect nothing less.
Still looks fun. Who gives a shit! VideaGamez!

why bother the standard edition then???
this how you do a premium edition :P
damn i freaking excited for this O______O
the Multi Border Bikini and Shell Bikini are freaking hot!!!!
why the hell are there exclusive to each other??? same as the Cutie Waitress and Biker Sexy Rider Suit
sooo fucking delicious!!!!!
the japanese version includes english VA(as usual) as well as two voice actors for Juliet(Eri Kitamura's voice, Juri Han's voice from Super Street Fighter IV, and Karen in Bakemonogatari/Nisemonogatari, and Yoko Hikasa is Mio from K-On!!!!!)
the thing is that both voices are available for Premium and standard version. the difference is that you have to unlock it for the standard version, while in premium you have a "perfect code" to unlock it as well as the costumes.
the funny thing is that the "Premium Edition" is the same price as the standard edition. so why bother for the standard edition in the first place??? :P
And I should probably pull my pants up too, I guess.
Now you are doing a silly onechanbara clone with the guy who wrote live action scooby doo.
So what you're saying is I can import the Japanese premium edition, get all of the awesome content, and play the game in English? I might have to cancel my Gamestop preorder...
There is a grain of truth to your statement, but I have to ask if you remember the entirety of either No More Heroes. Suda Has shown no hesitation in the past at attempting to titillate, but he does look like he's trying to out do himself here.
Japan is a lot more comfortable with their sexuality than we are in a lot of ways. This game, and Grasshopper's games in general tend to have a laugh about violence and sexuality, and I think they do it well. I'm all for women's rights, I just think it's silly to get up in arms about this game in particular. There are much more pressing feminist issues in the gaming world than this.
NMH has a good deal of sexuality, but it's also backed by a heavy dose of parody and tribtue to rather uncommon for gaming sources, like El Topo.
This on the other hand is ANOTHER zombie game relying on lowbrow humor and T&A.
Anyways, this game looks like Suda insanity and I can't wait to play it,hopefully people give it a better chance than they did Shadows of the Damned.
That could be the case. But given who's making it, I'm inclined to give them a chance to prove to me otherwise. And let's not pretend this is Suda's first game with lowbrow humor.
Sure, but David Lynch isn't above sexuality and silly humor, but there is usually something deeper under the surface, like NMH...
This is a game full of product placement DLC. I've yet to see anything deeper than juliet's cleavage.
And before anyone brings up Bayonetta, that game had a AAA combat engine to back it up.
I think what leads people to think this is in some way a parody/satire is the thematic and aesthetic contrast between the whole zombie/chainsaw/gore aspect and the lollipop/rainbow/glitter/unicorn/tounge-n-cheek aspect.
Which does kind of make it "parodius" in nature.
It's too bad that Japan is likely gonna be the only country to get any of this good stuff...
