A couple of months ago, Nick came across a hint that said a Six Flags theme park game might be in the works. Now confirmation has come by way of a new announcement from Brash. Yay.
Brash Entertainment has announced a partnership with Six Flags to release Six Flags Fun Park, a video game based on the theme park chain, to PlayStation 2, Wii, and Nintendo DS this fall in North America, according to Gamasutra.
From what they've said so far, we know that Six Flags Fun Park is a minigame collection set inside a virtual Six Flags theme park. It doesn't look like it will be another rollercoaster sim like we first hoped. Well, "hope" is probably too strong of a word.
CEO Mitch Davis: “Everyone has memories of visiting theme parks with their families, and having a great time with games like the Ring Toss and Bumper Cars. With Six Flags Fun Park, we are re-imagining these time-honored tests of luck and skill, and launching the first virtual park in the Six Flags family, while taking advantage of today’s most popular gaming systems.”
The last time I was at Six Flags, I had a horrible time. Trash was blowing around in the walkways, everyone smelled bad, and a hamburger I ordered looked like it had warts. The only thing that saved it was the rollercoasters and relatively short lines.
What do you think of a Six Flags game? Shovelware?
Also, Six Flags rides and things were in Roller Coaster Tycoon 2. I'd rather go buy that game and pretend I'm playing a Six Flags game.
I've never been to Six flags, but Disney Land, Universal Studios and Knotts Berry Farm are all pretty sweet. Unless this is a spin off of Roller Coaster Tycoon they can count me out.
translation: "Our outrageous entrancefees, ridiculous food/drink-prices just aren't enough any more, we want to rape your wallet even more! So we'll take some of the lamest activities in our parcs that nobody wants to do and make a virtual version of it!"
CEDAR POINT???????????????????????
Remember this?Anyone?
Yeah, because Ring Toss and Bumper cars definitely require a lot of skill. Six Flags sucks, why the hell would they make a game out of it? What's next, a Best Buy game?
That parks fucking awesome.
But seriously, if a top gun coaster did so insanely well, why not a Halo roller coaster? I don't care for Halo but it seems like a license for these theme parks to be relevant again.
What am I saying? That'll still ending up being the best video game based on a real theme park. The only way this could possibly not be a waste of plastic is if it somehow morphs into Rollercoaster Tycoon with Six Flags properties- creating my own Batman: the Ride actually sounds pretty cool. But, instead we're going to get ring toss with waggle. Hurrah.
god damn it.
2. I remember that Universal Studios videogame. I had it. It sucked - hard. I think I sold it to GameStop and used the money I got from trading in other games to buy GH: Aerosmith (see what I did thar, I traded in shit-tastic games to get a good game).
3. Yeah, it's shovelware. Even worse than that I'm sure. But I'm sure that CEO guy will enjoy it, seeing as he's probably unskilled in the lost arts of ring toss and bumper cars.
