I can't believe I'm writing this: you can now download Nightmare on Elm Street's Freddy Krueger for Mortal Kombat.
The downloadable dream killer is available for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 for 400 MS Points or $4.99. If you've previously purchased the "Season Pass" for Xbox 360, he's the final character in that fighter bunch. PS3 gets its own package, as well, with the $14.99 warrior Bundle that features three other characters: Kenshi, Rain, and Skarlet.
Krueger being a fighter in Mortal Kombat is probably the most ridiculous thing I can imagine, and for that very reason, I'm sold on the idea. To those who say he doesn't belong in the Mortal Kombat universe, I say stop for a moment and think about what you're saying. It's a videogame about fictional ninjas and robots and monsters that tear each other apart. It's about fun, always has been, and as far as I'm concerned, just about anything goes.
What other characters would you like to see appear in Mortal Kombat? My vote goes to a Predator.
Who's voicing Freddy? Please tell me it's Robert Englund, he will always be the only Freddy for me, not Jackie Earle Haley. While I enjoyed him as Rorschach, his Freddy didn't have enough humor beneath it.
Since it´s WB properties here, i´ve said it before and im saying it again, i want Riggs and Murtaugh from Lethal Weapon, everytime Murtaugh is frozen or hit by anythin he would say "im too old for this shit"
While Predator would be awesome, I would surprise me if they could get the rights to such a popular property.
I'll say the possessed girl from The Exorcist. That upside-down crab-walk thing was straight up nasty, and her pea soup vomit attack would fit in well with the grossness of Mortal Kombat.
I want Ash as well, but this just perked my day up. While the remake Freddy is not as good as the original (what ever is), this is still super awesome.
They say this Freddy isn't modeled after any particular actor but I say bullshit. Also I'd like to see Batman in a Mortal Kombat game but that would never happen in a million years.
I have a grand idea...i will sell sets of ludo with only two colors available at first...then i will offer the remaining colors for at least a third of the original price. for tokens with little glued on wings i will charge extra (they can wipe other players off the board with MASER when the dice says 4).
I'd like to see Kenshiro,Raoh or Jagi from Fist of the North Star added to the cast of Mortal Kombat. When Hokuto ShinKen is involved, the Fatality posibbilities are endless.
What's more, Shao Kahn already looks like one of the lesser bad guy bosses from the world of Century's End so they'd all fit right in.
If the guys from Nether Realms are feeling particularly lazy, they could crib their move sets from the Sega Fist of the North Star fighting games, not that there are any shortage of fighting techniques from the manga or the anime to incorporate into the game.
When I was a kid (11 years old I guess) I had an idea for a fighting game called "Mad Fight". It would have Freddy Krueger, Jason, Catwoman (Tim Burton's version), the Joker, Alien, Predator and some more that I don't remember. I think my idea was to add a bunch of villains in a game and make them fight. Oh yeah, the opening theme would be "Master of Puppets" by Metallica (an edited version, but including the solo).
I wish I would find my notes about this game idea. Probably my first game design document I ever made. =P But anyway, it's cool that some of the fighters that I've dreamed of are showing up on games "lately".
Back in the 90s after playing Marvel vs. Capcom 2 I was certain that a movie monster fighting game would be on its way. Kruger, Vorheez, Ash, Tarman (Return of the Living Dead), Pinhead, Leatherface, Michael Myers...sigh. It would have been glorious. Horror fans would eat it up.
My main issue with Freddy- he was a 100Kb Download, as opposed to the others who were all 70MB+. WTF? So it makes me wonder if perhaps Fred was on the disc the entire time, maybe he was meant to be XB360's exclusive to MK- like Kratos to PS3...

Sony Computer Entertainment America president Jack Tretton announced some exclusive content for the PlayStation 3 version of Batman: Arkham Origins during the company's E3 press conference. There's a 1960s Batman skin that looks goofy in all the right ways, as well as Knightfall DLC.
Gotta love Knightfall!
