Just the idea is hilarious. It's like an external CD drive for your silly netbooks. Sure, it's useful, but you just feel silly pulling it out.
I like the PSPgo, and I don't think it needs external UMD support, but the rumors are out there anyway. It seems that PC peripheral and accessories company Logitech is the rumored maker of this drive. A secret source tells CVG that this device will allow UMD games to be played on the PSPgo.
"The only problem is that it'll make the PSP a little bulky," says their source.
"We're not aware of it, so it may be something the US office is working on," says Logitech's UK office.
Keep it. We don't need it. Those that were opposed to the PSPgo kept their perfectly fine PSPs. Those that were fine with the transition got on board.
We could ask Sony about this. Of course, I'd expect them to scoff and "not comment on rumors." Maybe they'll like my concept image, though.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
It's not first party, so I don't think Sony will allow that.
I can dream can't I? :)
also, i like my 1000 series just fine along with my gray brick of a ds.. chunky is better.
External UMD drive, AKA PSP-3000. =D
us that went w/the Go went willingly and in turn gave up on UMDs. (or atleast i did).
for those that have UMDs; stick w/your PSP 1000/2000/3000. once your ready to ditch the physical media, then the Go is your PSP. the UMD addon defeats idea of what the Go is (small and digital/umd-less)
interesting to see what pricing may be though (over $50 and its doomed)
See, Sony? That's all you had to create and launch alongside PSP Go, and everyone would have been happy as a pig in mud, and you couldn't even get that right.
Now, with this, PSP Go is a very viable option. I hope Logitech clean up nicely with it, and when PSP Go drops in price, I might actualy buy one and one of these.
Man, been a while since I had the oppurtunity to say that.
but Sony has to worry about potential lost sales on OLD games, and instead alienate their customer base by not enabling us to obtain digital versions of our games we own.
