Lode Runner's price slashed to 800 Microsoft Points photo

The piece of content targeted as the Deal of the Week is Lode Runner. According to official release, the Xbox LIVE Arcade title’s price has been reduced by 33 percent, bringing it down to 800 Microsoft Banana Dollars. Starting today and rolling through September 21st, Xbox LIVE Gold members can purchase the game for its new promotional price courtesy of Microsoft.

Lode Runner XBLA, by the way, is a revival of the 1983 platformer. Possessing high-resolution (no way!) visuals and multiplayer options (double- no way!) this release tickled old-school fans and drove new ones nuts with its hardcore 2D puzzles and few allowances for error.

What do you guys think about Lode Runner? Should people get this thing because of the new lower price?

I didn't really feel like it was worth the "premium" price of 1200 points, but I'll gladly drop 800 points on it. I had never played any other version of Lode Runner, but I quite enjoyed this demo.

I heard it was dropping to 800 permanently, and now they are making it a deal of the week to cover the transition?
Smooth, Microsoft. Now give me a real deal of the week please.

No, just no. It sounds nice, but it's only open to those that have paid the $50 for xbox live. The real cost includes that $50. Not fooled man.

For fans of Lode Runner, this game is a blast. I bought it for 1200 points and while I would have liked it for 800, it was a decent purchase. The difficulty is intense though. But very well done.

For what you get out of it, $50 is totally worth paying for XBL. Better connection, better features and better games offered on the online service is what that annual 50 nets you.

That's not to say that PSN sucks, it doesn't. But it's a comparison of a baked potato to a fully-loaded, twice-baked, jumbo Idaho spud when you break it down to brass tacks. The only thing that PSN has is an internet browser...and that's it (aside from Fat Princess).

Case in point: PSN doesn't offer you Rez, Ikaruga or Virtual ON. That might not matter to some gamers, but those gamers need to catch an education and a slap across dey lips.

Ehh...I'm gonna pass. I'm still addicted to Puzzle Quest, last week's Deal of the Week. Shit is awesome.

I was interested in this until I saw the 1200 points sticker price. I might check it out now.

This is still a little too pricey for me.

Are there any updates from you know, 1983? Or is it still dig hole right, dig hole left, pick up crap, with fancy graphics.

I wouldn't even buy it at 800 points.

@Everyday Legend - Don't know why I'm entertaining this conversation, but I'm not the one to have veered this post off topic (blame @matrixdude171) - but I disagree. I would much rather have Flower, Fat Princess, Everyday Shooter, Crash Commando, Echochrome, Pixeljunk Monsters, Pixeljunk Eden, and Siren than Rez, Ikaruga or Virtual ON. PSN Exclusives are more often original titles that push genres a bit further than on XBLA, IMO.

Shadow Complex was great, but I still enjoy the XBLA remake of SOTN better. I'll also give you Trials - absolutely a blast to play.

You do NOT get better games for fifty dollars. Xbox 360 users get exclusives because it makes financial sense for a developer to make certain titles on for the 360's larger install base.

I own both systems, love both, but can't stand bullsh*t statements like "But it's a comparison of a baked potato to a fully-loaded, twice-baked, jumbo Idaho spud when you break it down to brass tacks." That's a gross hyperbole, and your argument is based entirely on bias towards HD remakes of old games.

This game should have started at 800 and been slashed to 400 for the deal of the week.

This game was released at 800 points for a day, then they jacked it to 1200. Doesn't anyone remember that?
