LocoRoco 2 will be good and cheap, only $19.99 photo

Following in the footsteps of Patapon, LocoRoco 2 will carry an MSRP of $19.99 when the game hits retail on February 10. This is good news for pretty much everyone, including Loco Roco fans and cheap asses.

Sony has also announced that pre-ordering the game at GameStop or Amazon will get you access to an early demo of the game. Pre-order customers will get a voucher code that can be redeemed on the PlayStation Network for the demo, which will be released a few weeks before the game hits shelves. If you don't have an Internet connection, you're screwed, of course. (And how are you reading this?)

LocoRoco 2 is technically the third game in the series, following up last year's interactive screensaver game thing on PlayStation Network, LocoRoco Cocoreccho. We assume there will be more to do in LocoRoco 2, even if it is just $19.99.

This is amazing news, but at the same time, it's strange news. To me, releasing Loco Roco 2 and Patapon 2 for $19.99 is like Nintendo releasing the next DS Mario or Zelda game for $19.99.

These are not budget game, these are the only reasons I still own a PSP.

@ Genius- That's because the game is awesome.

Again, it's strange to me that Sony is only charging $19.99 for Loco Roco 2. It's like throwing momney away.

@Jonathan Holmes:

Throwing money away? Really? Have you seen sales numbers for LocoRoco 1?

Excellent news!

The last thing I played on my PSP was Downstream Panic which was decent but didn't hold my attention for long.

This is kind of the opposite of what they did with the first two Katamari games (first was released at $20, second was at $30). If vgchartz is to be believed, Patapon sold half a million but Locoroco is only at 170,000.

Hopefully more people will play it at this price because it is an excellent game on many levels.

So it's cheaper than the first one is now? That's crazy. Also, what nademagnet said.

Locoroco 1 was my favourite games on the PSP, I would pay $50 for this, but I understand that Sony wants to sell lots of copies, so this is definately the way to do it.

Patapon was also released at that price, but it was full price in Europe, so I can assume Sony will screw us over again with LocoRoco 2...

I'll definitely be getting it. But I still don't understand this Sony mentality of giving a demo upon deciding you're going to buy it. Mind boggling.

They really should just make an HD version and release it on PSN, it would make sense with the Sixaxis and all. That other Locorocco game they have up is god awful.

@ covah- I'm guessing Loco Roco PSN wouldn't sell a lot of copies, just like LBP's and its relatively lacking sales. The PS3 crowd just doesn't seem into 2D platformers.

Now if they made a 3D Loco Roco for the PS3, one that looked like that clay-amtion Loco Roco promotional vid Sony put out a while back, that might sell.

I'll wear my Loco Roco beanie into the store as I go to pick it up. I sure do love me some singing jelly blobs.

I still think that LocoRoco is the best game on the PSP, and I can not wait to get my hands on LocoRoco 2. I'll get two (one for the nephew) so I hope that Hamza gets some in soon.
