Lock up your daughters: New info on Bioware's Sonic RPG photo

The latest issue of Nintendo Power is reportedly chock full of information and pics of the upcoming Sonic RPG for the Nintendo DS, now known to be called Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood. Crafted by BioWare, creator of the RPG hits Mass Effect and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, this game has me excited by its pedigree alone. According to the NP article, Sonic Chronicles will feature turn-based combat, "simple" dialog trees, fully animated cut scenes, and the return of everyone's favorite Totoro knock-off Big the Cat. Scans of the issue can be seen at French site Jeux-France.

Admittedly, the whole concept of a BioWare-developed Sonic RPG still has me befuddled. Sonic games are best when they are fast, short on story, and long on "mousetrap" style level designs. BioWare games are best when they are slow, big on story, and filled with alien/human pillow talk. It's like if Square-Enix were announced to be working on GTA puzzle game. I have no idea what to expect.

This might be the weirdest idea for a game I have ever heard. But as a former fan of Sonic, I'm pretty intrigued to see what they can make of this.

I was reading this yesterday and it has me excited. If only they were able to tie it in with the Archie comic...

This could be the NEW Mario RPG!!!!!!

Who knows it might be decent, or it might be Sonic.

Bioware will make it clap. History will show that they alone saved Sonic.

Ok, it's contest time.

The person who makes the best NON-PORNOGRAPHIC photoshop of what this game might be like gets a hand made illustration of Sonic and Mr Destructoid picking up chicks and the Little Debbie snack cake of their choosing.

I'll start.

Why have a jump when there's nowhere to go? I essentially jumped into a hole.

Sonic sucks. He was fun when he was a hedgehog that ran really, really fast. When he got a personality, it was over.

But if I can fix it, I will.

Everyone should take a moment to revel in how your past-self would react if you mailed a copy of nintendo power boasting exclusive coverage of a *sonic the hedgehog* *RPG* 10 years or so into the past...

Lol

Johnathan Holmes,

On the main page you can read the entire article, the "jump" is the link, or the article itself we click on to get to your story.

Usually on the main page a small % of the article is shown and once the "jump" is clicked we get to read the rest of the article.

Hope this helps!

Will this be the game that finally gets me to get off my ass and buy a DS? Probably not, but when I do eventually get a DS (and it will happen one of these days, I swear), this is one of the games I'll probably be getting for it.

@B5512

Past-self hell, I still did an ever so slight, involuntary double-take just now at the phrase "The latest issue of Nintendo Power is reportedly chock full of information and pics of the upcoming Sonic RPG," and I'm more or less used to it by now. My past self would have probably either died of a nerdgasm induced heart attack or merely burned the magazine as implausible blasphemy.

*breathes in hardcore like Ace*

The jump is more a term than anything. If you replace jump with the word link, it would make more sense.

It's just how we readers get from the main page over to your written article, by the link "jump" and basically your entire article can be read from the main page. Hence, before the jump (or link) so unless someone is posting a comment there would be no need to click on your link (jump) to read the "rest" of the story.

*gasps for air*

Hope this helps even moar!

Oh Phoenix, you big silly.

Your C-blog was good, but it did not have the Jeux-France pics or the GoNintendo info. That's what makes our two blogs different.

But it's true, you did a blog about the game yesterday.

Everyone go read it right now.

Sad thing, I've always thought the Sonic universe could have been interesting had they actually not gone retarded with it so early on.

The chaos crystals intrigued me as an 11 year when I played through the first sonic. None of the games had decent stories back then, so you had to use whatever the developers decided to toss in, plus your imagination. There was enough weirdness in Sonic 1 for something interesting to come out of it, but no, they had to bring sonic into the human world. wtf.

Hopefully this willhelp you out some more, as I am pretty sure what I have done here is mostly correct...lol

The picture below, is exactly what we readers see on the main page about your article, and the X's represent what we can click on to "jump" on over to your actual page for comments and such. As far as i know this is what the "jump" is being reffered to.

It's not necessarily a view story icon or tab we see, it's the hyper links. and as it is now your entire article can be read with out clicking on the links, to get to where we are now, posting comments.

Mix, you deserve some sort of award. Maybe a Little Debbie snack cake or something.

Thing is though, when I click the title, the comments, or the pic, I get the story. Did you check it again? Maybe right when the story went live, there was some glitch that corrected itself or something.

Anyway, you want a snack cake?
