Live show: Roger Barr to appear on Also Talks today
Today, we have a very special edition of Also Talks in store for you. Johnny Luchador and I will be sitting down with Roger Barr, the founder of i-Mockery.com. Roger has been releasing parody games on i-Mockery for some time, but Abobo's Big Adventure is the site's largest undertaking yet. In the Big Adventure, Abobo, a beefcake villain from the Double Dragon series, has seen his son Aboboy kidnapped and must bash his way through several NES worlds to rescue him. Abobo's Big Adventure is touted as "The Ultimate NES Tribute", and it delivers the goods. Abobo is transplanted into classic games like The Legend of Zelda and Mega Man, each with their own gameplay and familiar enemies. The game is packed from start to finish with videogame references and in-jokes that you'll likely need to play the game through a few times to catch them all. Also Talks airs at 4p.m. Pacific on Destructoid's Twitch TV channel. We've brought in Destructoid writer, and fellow Big Adventure fan, Tony Ponce to chat with the mind behind the game. Jump in the channel chat room and you can join the conversation.
