Live show: Deadpool
Is this a love letter to fans, or a slap in the face?
[Mash Tactics airs Monday through Friday at 4p.m. Pacific on Dtoid.TV. Watch Rick 'King Foom' Olson play a variety of games, each day with its own theme. With a heavy focus on community and viewer interaction, you can be as much a part of the show as anything else.]
Other than a few cameos here and there, Deadpool really hasn't had his time to truly shine in the videogame world. Many of us have been dying for a game based on his violent and off-the-wall antics for quite some time. Well, as luck would have it, it seems that time is finally here, and the wait for a game starring everybody's favorite merc with a mouth as the main attraction is finally over. As excited as I should be, however, I'm having trouble convincing myself that this is the game that we've all been waiting for all this time.
From the gameplay videos that I've seen thus far, what has me excited is that all of the humor and craziness of the Deadpool universe seems to be fully intact. What doesn't have me excited is, well, everything else. From combat that looks ho-hum at best, to bland-looking level design and so on, let's just say I'll be keeping my expectations low. I could be totally wrong, and may even end up really enjoying the game, as I loved the Cybertron titles from High Moon Studios, but as this point, I'm just really unsure. Join us tonight on Dtoid.TV and find out for yourself if the wait has been worth it, or not.
