Live headed to Windows Vista photo

We all knew it would happen eventually. This is just the official confirmation straight from the horse's mouth. Once again, GamesIndustry.biz brings us news of the various ongoings at CES.

"Windows Vista marks the biggest investment from Microsoft around Windows games since Windows 95, making games easier, safer and more fun to play on the PC," said Microsoft boss Bill Gates, as part of his CES keynote in Las Vegas.

The company used highly-anticipated titles such as Age of Empires III: The Warchiefs, Shadowrun, Company of Heroes, Age of Conan ? Hyborian Adventures and Crysis, as well as a PC version of Live Arcade favourite Geometry Wars, to show off commitment to the Games for Windows format.

Live on Vista sounds pretty incredible if you ask me. There's a ton of potential there, and with Microsoft looking to rule PC gaming, contending with their services (online and offline) will be no mean feat.

Think it's a good move from MS as long its not just that gaming version of vista that gets live, after all live is meant for the casual gaming housewife, right?

As long as there is no monthly fee to play on the service with PC. I don't want to have to pay to play games like Battlefield or Counter Strike.

Will LIVE on Vista cost $50 a year? And I am guessing you can use the same LIVE account for PC and 360. This is going to be cool. Now that M$ is really going to be pushing Games for Windows i think PC gaming is going to see considerable more sales outside of MMOs. nothing but great news from M$ so far.

Sure, this will improve gaming in Windows a lot more, but gaming in non-Windows environments will still be suffering, and possibly more. But like you guys care (except maybe Sheir).

just because it's microsoft doesn't mean they will restrict PC gaming to windows. I mean, Halo PC came out for Windows and Mac.
