Assassin's Creed has been a debacle for days now. Between the less-than-stellar response and the childish vagina worship surrounding its producer, one gets the feeling that Ubisoft would rather just forget about the game and move on to creating Splinter Cell: Splinter with a Vengeance.
Remember a week ago, though? Everything was roses and sunshine in the Ubisoft camp and Assassin's Creed was the name for God in the lips and hearts of little children. That, of course, was the mindset the above boys had when they created this live-action rendition of the Creed trailer, so it's not fair judging them now that the entire house of cards has blown into the fire.
A reaction to the video? The parkour is somewhat impressive, but the whole thing proves how utterly ridiculous certain actions look without the addition of CGI film filters and artistic slow-motion. Overall, I give it an 8. I wouldn't necessarily buy it, but I think it would serve as a quality rental.
Hay, guyz! Look at this! Gabe from Penny Arcade has a different take on all this Assassin's Creed negativity. I think he brings up some potentially strong points. Thoughts?
Well, Assassin's Creed kicks ass no matter what a couple lame reviews said.
The video was pretty cool too, but it would have been better if they could have gotten someone to do some more acrobatic things. Also, it would have been funny to see him pick pocket someone, even if it was a staged one it would have been nice.
Yeah...less than stellar? I liked it, most other people seem to like it, they didn't have enough of them to even cover all the pre-orders at the Gamestop I got it from, and it got good reviews. Debacle is a strong word considering it seems to be a critical, and likely commercial, success. The IGN situation, now that was a debacle.
I thought the video was pretty sweet, though if I were one of the people he shoved aside I'd probably push his goofy tunic wearing ass against a wall. I also wanted to see him pick someone's pocket, even if he just runs back around and hands it back.
As for the actual game, I still need to play it before I trash it based on a couple of mediocre reviews.
i thought the vid was alright. As for the game, well, from what I saw of my co-worker playing it, it definitely looked pretty fun. I could just see myself spending far too much time roaming around, doing sidequests before eventually finishing off my target when I feel it's most oppurtune.
hell i still don't get why this game is getting 'meh' reviews from people. I think I agree with Gabe about this one; reviewers simply don't have the kind of time to spend with a game like Assassin's Creed, ESPECIALLY with Mass Effect also being on their 'to do' list for their deadlines.
mmm... definitely reminded me of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freestyle_walking]free running , when i first saw videos of assassins creed i knew it looked kinda familiar but i couldnt quite put my finger on it
also doesnt assassins creed have something to do with the present time as well? probably not as anachronistic looking as the video but it mentions something about DNA and stuff...
Just for the record, the two versions appear to be equal, more or less. The PS3 version is prettier and sharper, but the 360 version runs smoother. It's give-and-take. Throw in the 360's achievements, though, and I think the scales tip in the 360's favor.
I'm confused about the whole rating thing. We're the people who say that scores are too inflated, and that a five out of ten means average, right? Then why are we branding a game as "bad" when the LOWEST score it's got is a seven out of ten? I guess I'm echoing what Im OK is saying. I also haven't played it yet.
im playing it now, and what the jerkoff from pennyarcade (hate penny arcade) is totally correct. The game is great. Just have fun with it. Also Dexter makes an excellent point.
Your use of the word "debacle" is slightly sensational don't you think? And in all the reading about the game on countless sights over the last few days I've heard nary a quip about Ms. Raymond but rather alot about the game itself. I happen to think (and alot of people agree with me) that the game is fantastic. Therefore your first paragraph = fail.
A lot of companies have been releasing their financial figures lately, but it doesn't seem as if any can hold a candle to Ubisoft's performance. While most had a non-remarkable or down year in fiscal 2013, Ubisoft reported pr...
