LittleBigPlanet netting over $150 on eBay photo

It was only a matter of time. Following Sony's worldwide recall of LittleBigPlanet, opportunistic eBay dealers have started selling the soon-to-be-replaced discs for over $150.

The recalled discs feature a backing track which contains lines from the Qur'an. Not wanting to anger Allah, Sony has chosen to replace all copies of the game, pushing the release date back.

Those who spy a future collector's item -- or are just desperate to start playing LBP -- are bidding like crazy, while quite a few copies are showing up for sale. If you want to get your hands on an Islamazing deal, hit up eBay. You'd be Qur'azy to miss it!

Wow that's insane. I still need a PS3 if I'm going to be playing this.

Not sure a story about an Islamic issue should automatically be linked with a picture of Osama bin Laden... Islam ≠ terrorism, you know.

Just seems a picture of Osama bin Laden, in a story that has nothing to do with him besides a shared religion, is unnecessary. Guess it's just me.

What I'm curious about is if the copies that got pulled back will have some sort of incompatibility with the online mode, which is... sort of the entire point of the game!

@cbebop007

Considering muslims are against LBP and the picture is clearly depicting Osama in the act of purchasing LBP, the only thing the picture might be claiming is that Osama Bin Laden is a bad muslim. Which I think is a perfectly rational opinion.

150 DOLLARS?!?!

Wish I had that kind of money to throw away needlessly.
I going to pay 40-45 quid for it, that's it, I've preordered it today.

I just can't see why people whould pay THAT much, maybe if it was a super rare special edition, but it has one song, that's it. Bar the lyrics/song, it'll be the same game in a week's time that I'll be playing.

Some people are just too desperate, or idiotic. :(

Bad taste can go many ways, and making fun of a religion that is known for being very traditional and not supportive of humourous attempts is pretty pathetic. I do think that everyone who found this witty is an idiot. No offense to the author, but do get a sense of humour, and be a bit more sensitive about these things.

Humor is only as disrespectful as you allow it to be. Too bad you can't enjoy religion jokes. Probably means you don't like race jokes either. Or sexuality ones. Or gender ones. Or Nationality ones.

It's a joke made at a sensitive time at the expense of a super conservative religion. There is a time for these kind of jokes, and this isn't one of them.

I think next time this is brought out you should post a picture of the world trade center getting bombed. That sure would be edgy and funny.

You will burn in a fire for these comments, Jim. A fire of HUMOR and GLORY! I laughed out loud. Spelled out, so you know it's good.

Everyone "offended" by the article... ten bucks says you're not even Muslim, so like any and all good white people you're being "PC" and being offended FOR someone else. Get a fucking life, lighten up, and piss off. Tis a joke, son, tis a joke.

I'm a Muslim, though feeling uncomfortable about the pic, I'm not offended by it. Y'know why? We live in a free society, one that gives us the right to religion, but also a right to free speech, Jim is merely excercising that right, as I excerise the other right daily. They are both equal, both deserve the upmost respect. We can chosse who to believe in, but also what to laugh at, what to say, who/what to criticize, it's our right.

I just can't believe people are STILL criticizing Jim, it's been bloddy AGES sice he began writing for this site, I thought even newcomers know how he writes.

Sorry to go off on one Jim, I just can't stand people who don't realise this, does me head in!! :)

I was going to say, "in before atheist-provoked flame war", but I don't know if that will apply as we'll have to see if any Catholics take whormongr's bait or not.

People buying this game for $150 are either very dumb and foolish or simply have much more money than your average bear. It will not be a collector's item. Maybe if the defect was a sackboy giving the finger on the front cover, sure. But a song or two that no one cares about in the soundtrack? And if you're paying just so you can play the game a few weeks early, that is just as sad.
