LittleBigPlanet is probably already owned by everybody who wanted it, but if you really, reeeeally loved the level-building PS3 exclusive, then you might want to spend some extra cash on the recently unveiled "Game of the Year" edition. It's just like the old game, but it's of the year.
LBP GOTY contains the full original title, obviously, but brings with it a ridiculous bundle of extra content. Seven download packs, including the Metal Gear Solid pack, will be made available for not one thin dime. Meanwhile, some of the LBP community's brightest creators have made eighteen exclusive bonus levels. As an added incentive, the whole package is wrapped up with a Modnation Racers beta. Just because.
The game will be on sale September 8.

As i've said in every forum/comments section with this story so far...
Thank you Sony for pissing in the face of early adopters trying to support you, your console and Mm. We will know in future to make sure we purchase none of your risky ventures on day one just in-case it re-releases a year later with great new content and the beta for a game that looks so fucking awesome.
Onlineatron, I think it's completely fair that they're re-releasing it with more stuff. It's obviously just trying to get new people to buy the game, and if they wouldn't buy it vanilla, this might push them over the edge. Getting mad at them for releasing this is like getting mad at a computer company for making a better computer for cheaper 2 years down the road.
Actually, I am kinda :| about those 18 fan made levels. People make some really good stuff, and it'd really suck if I'd have to buy the game again just to play them.
It would be ok if they released this stuff free to the early adopters aswell.
I've made a post on GT about that comment http://forums.gametrailers.com/thread/-bigger--annoucement-tomorrow-/895661
and take note that the response is made by SCEA's Marketing Manager... not Mm.
If I bought this, I could give back my friends copy and actually get 100% trophies. I was pretty pissed off when I saw that I couldn't because of that extra content, I don't think it should be a part of the (now) native trophy list for the game.
I mean, hell, I want this stuff for free too, but keep in mind that early adopters (including myself) have had this game for a full year before people who buy it now. If someone handed me $30 and said "I'll give this to you if you wait to buy LBP until this time next year", I woulda said no, and that's why I don't see this as being that big of a deal.
They really need to put out a demo for this game! I was lucky enough to get into the beta and it was only by actually playing the game that I saw how much fun it was... otherwise this game really wasn't on my radar.
A demo would likely sell people that are still unsure of the game or just don't think it's for them... and with the GOTY edition, it's perfect timing!
I was asking about this edition in the last LBP thread... and was hoping it would include all of the overpriced costume packs as well.
It would sure be nice if the bundled the DLC together in one pack (maybe one pack for levels and one for costumes) at a discounted rate. $5 for a costume pack is outrageous, though the level packs have much more value. I'd buy a $15 level pack for sure, and then I'd want to start going build-crazy.
As for playing through the levels, the floaty jumping physics have always hampered my enjoyment, which is very unfortunate; I really want to love this game. Just this announcement makes me want to attempt to build a level again (and play BK:N&B)!
This is definitely a great deal for those who don't yet have the game!
When my friend gave me his PS3 he regretted to inform me that he had lent a lot of games to other people and that LBP was one of the many games that I would never get from his library.
That's really nice! If we wouldn't be getting those PSN cards over here I would pick this version up right away. For I really REALLY want to get my hands on the Metal Gear items, material etc. Great news for people that don't have the game yet. I recommend this to every one.
@Onlineatron
Really? You're just being ignorant. Everything in the world gets lowered in price after a while. EVERYTHING! You don't say the same thing about a certain washing machine manufacturer when they're selling a their models at a lower price now do you? Early adopter pay more to play more. You're just dumb.
ahhhh I've been wanting to get this game but there's so many games to keep up with. a cheaper price and more in the game does bump it up on the list to purchase though

"Don’t worry…wait until tomorrow for “bigger” announcement."
I wonder what this could be.

So it could be about anything not just LBP.
Now I've finally been motivated to pick it up.

PS3 into OVERDRIVE MODE!

Still can't believe I overlooked this game.
Now that this is happening, I am excited.
