Little house of horrors: FranknJohn is one adorable roguelike

11:45 AM on 06.04.2014

FranknJohn has to be one of the cutest Kickstarter projects I've seen, especially given the fact that it's a roguelike set in a haunted house full of nods to B-movies. Plus, the titular FranknJohn himself has a stake going through his head. That's got to count for something. How adorable.

FranknJohn is a failed experiment who wakes from his grave with no memory, armed with a head that stays on his body by way of a chain. He swings his head to attack the nasties around him while traversing the mansion from where he once came. Influenced by games such as Zombies Ate My Neighbors and even Dark Souls, this colorful roguelike features randomly-generated levels, swappable body parts, and permadeath -- pretty standard fare for a game like this, but it looks just cute enough to warrant taking a look at.

Gone Home coming to Wii U

Shovel Knight looks great in 16-bit, Aegis Defenders just looks great

Oh my goooddd. How did I miss this until now? It's like a Nausicaa game. Thank you sir Shovel Knight for making a cross over appearance (above) in Aegis Defenders, which is how it came to my attention.  The Kickstarter already passed its initial funding goal and its PS4 stretch goal. Local co-op and a Wii U version are up next. Here's hoping. This looks amazing. more
