Lionhead releases a single Fable III screen photo

Say one thing for Lionhead. Say it likes to keep us on a short leash with its teases. Not exactly giving us much to work with, the Microsoft thrall has released a single screenshot of upcoming life-changer Fable III

There's really not a lot else we can say, but we thought you might be interested. For what it's worth, Fable III is looking like it might be good, but it's hard to judge that from just one screen. Let us be having some video, or at least more than a single picture at a time, please!

The game, designed with Project Natal in mind, is due out for release near the end of this year. Who is picking it up?

Well, at least your character doesn't look like he's stuffed with hams like in Fable 2.

Seriously, you could be the minimum "fatness" in that game and it would still look like your character had participated in a competitive eating contest every day of his life.

I need more than a screenshot that looks like Fable II to get excited about this game.

I sold my 360 because I got sick of the lack of games that I enjoyed being on it. Fable 2 made me happy until I beat it, but it got tiresome. I had no desire to play it again. The combat grated on me like crazy. I will not be fooled again. The next Fable will be fine, but nothing wondrous. They never are.

Well, the screenshot is alot like another screenshot they released...

press kit trickle aside, I'm picking this game up based on really enjoying the other two, and from the info that came out during X10: doesn't quite sound broken...yet. I could honestly see Fable III getting real RTS real quick.

Dunno about a 3rd one. I mean after trash talking Oblivion's combat system as simple and not entertaining they delivered an even simpler combat system where casting one spell over and over again wins basically every battle, which is not entertaining. That and I worry about how important Natal will be to the game and what if anything you miss out because I will not buy Natal.

I want to see some gameplay on when you become the King/Queen and how difficult and involving that is. That could be quite fun. I want tough choices that make me pause and think about the intended and unintended consequences of my actions. So few games really do that beyond save/kill this person. I want something like the choice before the final battle in Dragon Age that made me really consider the pros and cons of that decision. If you trap that essence into an entire game that would be something worth buying.

As it is I don't need a another watered down RPG that appeals to the masses. I need more of that dying breed of RPG that sucks you in for 100 hours and actually has a story that doesn't seem to come for a children book.

"they delivered an even simpler combat system "

Not true. I loved Oblivion, but complex the combat was not. In Fable 2 You had melee combos, spells, and ranged attacks that could be combined effortlesly in battle. The fact that you decided to spam one particular kind of attack to beat the game is your problem, not the game's. Most games can be spammed once you work out how. If you want to play it that way fine, but don't use it as ammunition to attack the game with - it's lazy gameplaying that made you do it, not the instruction manual.

Natal, Jim? I thought that was just speculation at this point.

Also, Molyneux has stated that the game doesn't need 'Natal' to work, not that any of you believe a word he says, heh...

looks kinda gay like all the fable games and the hold the hand thing is stupid.

Also why would they set the game in the times of early industrilization that is a lame period of history!

Uh yeah it sounds like Natal isn't going to be so important, the right trigger interaction described here sounds kinda good actually.

10/10 for constructive points there!

Probably buying it. It really depends on how they implement Natal into it.

Who cares if you can string together attacks, it's not like it matters if you fuck them up seeing as you can't really die.

I didn't like the last game... it was fun, but I just didn't play it often enough. If they could make the townspeople look more varied, that'd be a nice. I mean, my wife looked exactly like at least 50 other women in the town.

Ah yes I see how that is a problem with the game. ^_^
