Lionhead might reveal a new IP at E3 photo

Lionhead Studios -- the developer behind RPG Fable II -- may have something fresh to show off at this year’s E3. A tweet written by a Swansea Metropolitan University student seemingly spilled the beans on the company’s event plans. Lionhead animation director Andrew Lindsay recently visited the school and spoke in one of the student’s classes, apparently showing off new animations from an unannounced IP. Linsday indicated at one point during his guest appearance that the first game of a new franchise would debut at E3.

As GameSpot points out, all signs point to “yes” in regards to Lionhead showing off something new. Head honcho Peter Molyneux has said before in an interview that Lionhead is “almost ready to start showing the world what happens when you feel safe about experimenting and inventing and prototyping, and that can lead to some pretty amazing things and we’ve got some amazing things in our pocket.”

Of course, before that statement he teased that we would hear details of this product coming “forward very soon.” The last time I checked my calendar, E3 was pretty soon. Consider us stoked.

Yep, definitely interested. Some of the "experiments" Lionhead have shown so far are pretty cool. I think if it is a new game shown, it won't be much at all.

I'm only interested if Molyneux isn't involved with the project. Honestly, that guy hasn't delivered any 'quality' game, IMHO.

@loki d20- Maybe he hasn't delivered on your expectations, expectations that he himself undoubtedly pumped up, but to say that he's never delivered a quality game is ridiculous.

I'm looking forward to this.

A new game that ISN'T Fable would be a nice change of pace. As for Molyneux, that guy has disappointed me with every Fable game that came out.

@ZombiePlatypus: Black & White, Fable, Movies, etc. None of them quality games, IMHO. All lowest common denominator creations with tons of hype over supposedly advanced concepts that end up being basic +/- meters that are easily adjusted to meet all demands.

In Mass Effect, my answers and actions meant something and had a definite result that I couldn't change unless I went back and did everything over again. In all of Molyneux's games, he's advertised them as having such concepts, but failed every single time.

I wouldn't mind seeing something similar to Black & White, but that's just me. And like what everyone else said, a lack of Molyneux would probably be best.

What ever happened to The Dimitri Project? I hope they didn't cancel it.

I think what you mean is that none of his Lionhead games have lived up to expectations. Take a look at his Bullfrog-era CV: Populous, Powermonger, Dungeon Keeper, Syndicate(!), Magic Carpet ...

@justcliffe: I mean Molyneux has not lived up to the expectations he has voiced. Luckily, during those older days, he wasn't talking as much and trying to sell us on the fact that his games could do things they actually couldn't do.

I can't wait to see what it is... could he be talking about the billion AI's or whatever from a year or so back?

@loki d20 That's a fair criticism, but it's different from what you said before, that he never delivered a quality game. The Lionhead games have all been disappointing, but they're not exactly B-games. And in the Bullfrog days he made some incredible games.

@Benzido: Quality is very subjective, also derived based on the expected and the delivered, and in my opinion he hasn't delivered a quality game to date and I've played a lot of his games. Remember, this is my opinion. Fortunately, there are enough companies out there where I could say the opposite about them.
