Link's Crossbow Training screens: when did Link get a crossbow? photo

Thanks to NeoGAF user edwardslane and The Magic Box, we bring you a gallery of screens from the upcoming Hylian Duck Hunt successor Link's Crossbow Training.

The game does look quite nice based on what's shown here, but as a pack-in for a $20 piece of plastic -- one that lacks its predecessors cruel laughing dog -- we aren't expecting a lot out of it. If it gives you six hours of enjoyment over its entire life span, we'll be impressed.

Though, I still want to know when Link EVER used a crossbow? Couldn't they have called it Link's Hookshot Training or Link's Medallion That Causes Earthquakes Training?

I think this must be what they meant when they said Zelda had to go in a new direction guys!!

(P.S. wow Starman you're really on top of things!!)

How about Link's Rotating Step-On machine that is a Deus Ex Machina i the game and is only useful for one area and boss battle and then is useless throughout the rest of this great but short game training

Gorons are rock aren't they? Shooting them in the junk *shouldn't* hurt.

Someone at Nintendo is skimping on the fact-checking.

I still want to know when Link EVER used a crossbow?

Well, duh. That's why he needs training.

I am too amazed by seeing Nex's new avatar to care about Link having a crossbow.

Also...

In before the Jack Thompsons and Dave Grossmans of the world complain about how this game teaches kids to kill people with a crossbow.

Man, now that you mention it, a hookshot training game would make so much more sense. I guess the fact that he's never used a crossbow is why Link needs training?

Perhaps Link can turn into a wolf and laugh at himself?

I see no eyebrow ring, only a lack of glasses. You do look less pissed off now ;)

The brimtastic is disappointed with Nintendo. For a (new and shiny and OMG!) peripheral for a massively successful console, they have chosen to tack on a Nintendo legend to make that stupid shell seems slightly less crap.

I feel like the Nintendo is sullying it's main characters for the delicious moneys -- see "Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games" for more wonderful hooray-ness information.

Hey I don't mind doing a little crossbow training, seems fun enough for $20. Plus I love Zelda.
