Hey, look what was dropped off at New York City office of Marc Ecko's Complex magazine -- a fancy limited-edition Grand Theft Auto IV-themed Xbox 360!
It looks like this limited run of 500 custom consoles is only being sent to press to generate hype, so if you're thinking about picking one up at EB Games, you're out of luck. While the system is simply an Elite that's been given a glossy coat of paint, branded with GTA IV cover art, and numbered, it does look pretty slick. The console also came with a shiny metallic box filled with peripherals like the Xbox LIVE Vision Camera and the universal remote, both of which will come in handy when playing Grand Theft Auto IV.
I'm not going to lie -- I'm kind of jealous. Hey Rockstar and Microsoft, you have my address. Can I get console number 127? I haven't played it yet, but I'm pretty sure Grand Theft Auto IV on the Xbox 360 is like, so much better than it is on the PlayStation 3. I think we can work out a 12 out of 10 review score here ...
Feel free to drool over the other images found on the Complex blog, but watch the rugs -- we just had them shampooed.
They really didn't do much design wise with this though..they could of done a WHOLE lot better..but free is free.
Man I wish people would send me free stuff like that. All I get with my job are a few demo boards with some led's on it, occasionally a display too.
lolz! You kiss that much ass just for a skicker on the front and side?
While the design is pretty simple, I really dig how it looks. I think it's simplicity makes it appealing, to me at least. I wouldn't mind one of those.
Ps3 sucks.
Can I has 360 now?
how are the Remote and Cam going to come into play
Well I guess the live camera is kinda obvious, but the remote?
lucky me I have the adorable tiny remote that came with launch units. my friends remote is one of those huge ones. I cant imagine playing that game with that huge ass thing
Oh I totally want one of these!
500 consoles sent out to people whom almost certainly already have 360s and are almost certainly excited as possible over GTA4...
I dunno, that sounds just kinda like a waste to me. $200,000, not counting the cost of the artwork and shipping 500 consoles out, for press hype you've already got.
*shrug*
I'd take one if offered, though. Being a cblogger at Destructoid counts as being a member of the gaming press, right?
Yes but does it redring?
I agree with Y0j1mb0.
Who the hell would want thier console to have a game's advertising plastered all over it? I don't understand the interest in stuff like this.
That is some hot MSoft publicity right there.
So essentially, they wanted to make it look like a PS3? Notice the sleek “automotive-quality” paint instead of the Elite’s matte black color.
I think the Mass Effect one is way sexier.
Does the remote have a speaker in it?
The cell phone would be a lot better if it worked like the one for No More Heroes. I might have looked like agoffball but holding the wiimote up to my ear like a phone always made me giggle a little bit out of joy
*a goofball
12 out of 10? That's one more than is even possible.
I would like to have a 360 that matches my ps3. I don't dig matte black. I likes the gloss.
you can win one of these in germany at gamestop. you can win it with a copy of gta4 .. i will try to get it :D
I'll laugh my ass of if some of them gets a RRoD :P
Kind of want
I'm really trying to be impressed by this, but I've seen console skins on sale at Gamestop that look nicer.
Letsee MS scrub that shit off when it gets sent off to repair.
Damn that's sexy.
Also, LOL @ redzie.
ok, that's hotness. Very much want.
ROFL @ Redzie
I have dibs on console 69
mmmm, shiny. I would trade my elite for this anyday :)
GTA4 exclusive for Xbox 360.
Does that mean I get an extended warranty for free.
it looks pretty ugly.
too plain and underwhelming.i give it a d+
If these get on ebay they're gonna fetch a hefty price
Damn that thing is ugly and I hate grand theft auto DO not want.
big deal! i already have a black 360 (modded, painted black) and i could just print out a GTA sticker to put on the top.
it's just another stupit cash grabbing gimmick buy the Microsoft Clan.
Yes, a cash grabbing gimmick, considering they're not producing them to be sold. You're a moron, poonster.
Also, I didn't read the title carefully at first and I thought it meant the 360 wasn't getting the limited edition version of the game and I was pissed for approximately 2.4 seconds.
I'd like a glossy elite-console :-) just think the top is a bit messy like that...
This console looks nice, Arrgghhhh I always fall for limited edition items!
I love the limited edition stuff too, but it would have been nicer if it wasn't just black with a GTA sticker on the side. maybe a bit more colour and some artwork on the faceplate?
Is that really what it looks like? That's hideous. You could do a glossy printout of the game cover and tape it to a 360 and have the same thing.
/shrug
This is definitely a 'LIMITED' edition, since we can't purchase it.
Not that I'd buy one.
FUUUUUU$$$KKK U DRNUTT so i was mistaken,i just browsed the story,do you work for MicroSoft? dickhead!
It looks better than the fugly Halo 3 one but it's still kind of plain looking to me.
12/10! I am not a real big fan of the glossy paint. Gloss plastic looks kind of cheap a lot of time.
This looks pretty whack...
I do work for M$$$$$$$$$$, they pay me in dead babies.
Now you can win a Limited Edition GTA IV Xbox 360 from the Xbox Site, just got this email:
http://ebm.email.xbox.com/c/tag/hBH5XW$AlyGDmB3mcwbAxk66nnH/doc.html?i_footer=2
I'd take one of those, 'specially for free.... then sell it to a zealot GTA fan for a bazillion dollars and settle with the 360 I already have without they ghey box art.
Would have looked better with different art... who wants a cover for a console?
like I said... sell it for a bazillion.
I'm not going to come on here and say I'm giddy because I DO actually get one of these, but I'm also not going to not say that.
At the same time: *nudge nudge wink poke*
I still have no clue why they treat reviewers so well since giving them free stuff rarely changes their view on the game they're reviewing. They should have had a contest to give at least 400 of those away to people interested in the game rather than reviewers who oftentimes already get their games free as well as other crap all the time. I'm looking at you, IGN.
