The color of most public urinals, nothing says "pop music" like ceramnic white. This irony isn't lost on Sony, who have announced today that they will be bundling their karaoke title, SingStar Pop, with a limited edition Ceramic White PlayStation 2.

The bundle retails for $149.99, and ships with the full retail versoin of SingStar Pop, along with the game's two solid USB microphone peripherals. The Ceramic White doesn't contain any new functions or design changes other than the fact that it's white, but trust me when I say that people are going to eat this bundle up at retail this Holiday.

The bundle will be available this November, although GameStop seems to think they can ship you one in the next 24 hours. If you can't wait to sing your favorite Rihanna and Ashlee Simpsons songs, SingStar Pop is available now for $49.99.

You know you want it.

Haha, putting it into white and baby blue so dumb parents mistake it for a Wii? Clever..

Normally I like white consoles but anything other than black for the PS2 just looks wrong.

Of course, if its white it HAS to be ripping off the Wii.

The 360 was white before the Wii was.

The Wii was therefore copying the 360!

Boy, am I clever.

Scratch that, the 360 stole the Gameboy's color. Those goddamn bastards.

Can I get a white slim PS2 without the terrifying karaoke game?

I liked white consoles better than the trend in black consoles. I'm such a racist bastard.

I think I have a disease. I was absolutely certain that, at a casual glance, Nick's avatar was Chad Concelmo's. I have Concelmitis.

@Edarios - I'm mostly just amused that the PS2 was black, the XBox360 comes out and it's white, the Wii is white, but the PS3 is still black. Fast-forward a year, and now Sony decides white is the way to go.

Any racist propaganda along with this one? Like the whole white PSP thing?

Too bad that ad campaign wasn't racist, and racist organizations like the NAACP were being little bitches about it.

Also, it's not like a new PS2 color is new or that, "white is the way to go". Didn't Sony release pink and yellow and silver PS2's back in the day? I guess rubber duckies were yellow, so they just had to cash in.

SingStar is not horrible -- IT RULES! The microphones the game comes with kick the s**t out of those that ship with Rock Band, Boogie, Karaoke Revolution, High School Musical ...

Isn't that enough for you guys? Tough crowd.

Does this mean that the PS2 is getting a price drop down to $100? It seems strange that they'd include a pack-in game that actually saves you money.

why would people buy a ps3 when there is still so much support for the ps2? if sony wants people to buy their new system, they need to do the xbox path and completely stop making games for the ps2!

What pisses me off is that they're just now bringing out the color and size variety. I hate that shit, I really do. I usually don't even wanna buy a fucking console anymore just because I know I'm gonna trade the bastard in like a year later just so I can get the fucking slim version. I don't think the Wii can possibly get any smaller so I bought that.

I've been looking at console mod sites and have my heart set on switching my PS2 to a clear case.

@waxximis, because they are catering to two markets right now. The hardcore (who wants one) will buy the PS3, and the casual market has been buying the crap out of the PS2 (thus singstar, not killzone). The Playstation did the same thing. They supported it for 3 years after the PS2 came out. They will do that until the casual market decides to look at the PS3 (Price dropped to around $250)
It's not rocket science, it's marketing and not forcing your customers to spend the money before they are ready. Plus the PS2 is and was profitable, the xbox wasn't.
