Lily Allen, No Doubt, Taylor Swift will make you a Band Hero photo

MSN has posted its first look at Activision's upcoming top-40s-focused Hero game, Band Hero, revealing the first official tracks and features. Of the 65 on-disc tracks, five have been revealed so far.

  • Taylor Swift - "Picture to Burn"
  • No Doubt - "Just a Girl"
  • Lily Allen - "Take What You Take"
  • The All-American Rejects - "Dirty Little Secret"
  • Jackson 5 - "ABC"
Other announced artists include Fall Out Boy, Maroon 5, The Killers, and Snow Patrol. This is in addition to the artists revealed quietly by the Band Hero trailer at E3 that no one but us paid any attention to -- the Go-Gos, Janet Jackson, Culture Club, The Turtles, Marvin Gaye, and Jesse McCartney.

Features wise, it sounds pretty much identical to what's been announced for Guitar Hero 5, including drop-in and drop-out instrument gameplay. New to the game is a classic karaoke mode, which sounds like it will just up to four players sing or hum along to their favorite tracks. We may or may not know more about the game, but if we said anything before mid-August, we'd have to kill you.

There's a new trailer over at MSN, if you're interested in looking at two chicks rock out to Lily Allen's "Take What You Take," before the entire neighborhood shows up. Note the new sexy new Guitar Hero drum set, if you're looking for an upgrade.

Marvin "Gay"? OK, Nick. The greatest R&B singer of all time requires an edit!

Band Hero? Isn't that what Guitar Hero became after World Tour (when they introduced the ability to play drums and vocals)?

Why would Activision release the exact same game twice simultaneously?

I like a lot of Lily Allen's tracks, but I can't help but wonder how much of it they're going to have to change. I mean, the chorus to "Take What You Take" begins with, "What the f*ck do you know?"

There's a reason not very many top-40 songs are on Rock Band.

Top-40 songs are SHIT.

I'd have to say I'm a little surprised not to see songs like this coming out of Rock Band, considering I've always felt that GH was more of a "gamey" experience, while RB was geared more towards partying with friends. These songs are very party-friendly, and if I'm lucky, maybe my wife will be more willing to play with this wider variety of songs in her vocal range.

I actually like Lily Allen, and as stated she's actually VERY dirty in her lyrics.

it was funny the other day I was in a major chain store and they were playing that "Fuck You Very Much" song over the loudspeakers and it really underscores how if it's popular people don't question whether or not it's appropriate

@ whormongr:

Yeah, I heard "Fuck You" when I was checking out at the grocery store the other day. I'm pretty sure they didn't even censor it. I was in shock.
