The teen pop group Aly & AJ have revealed that they'll be releasing their own guitar peripherals, for use with Guitar Hero and Rock Band, through PDP (Performance Designed Products). The peripherals are designed specifically with teen and tween girls in mind, and given that demographic the guitars are predicticably pink and/or heart-shaped.

Here's the part where I expect you, a Destructoid reader, to be asking "Who and what are you talking about?". According to Wikipedia: "Aly & AJ are a teen pop band consisting of sisters Alyson Renae "Aly" Michalka and Amanda Joy "AJ" Michalka. They were born in Torrance, California, but spent part of their childhood in Seattle, Washington. They are both actresses, singer-songwriters, and guitarists."

We contacted our tween correspondent Taylor Tiffany to get her reaction, and were surprised to find that she's "totally over AJ & Aly," saying that they were "so two years ago." She did express interest in seeing a Selena Gomez-branded drum peripheral, and, completely unprompted, called Miley Cyrus -- and we quote -- "a total witch skank."

Kids.

Meh, every generation has crappy music.

I'm 24 and I remember some of the crappy shit girls in middle school use to listen to, n'sync and other shit like that.

The 90s was full OF pop music boy band FAIL.

Basically, as long as people with bad taste in music exist (aka 12 year old girls) you always have bad music.

BTW no one under the age of 21 should reference other teens as kids, in my eyes you're still a kid, you're still part of that youth generation consuming crappy shit just like the generation before.

@djduffy, do people not get it.

It's not just "these days". Every fucking generation has bad music. Haven't you noticed that bad music is released every year?

Why is it any different from 10 years ago, 15 years ago, 20 years ago?

Just because you're male between the ages of 18-30, who listens to hipster music (aka music no one has heard about other than you and your other hipster friends and are smug about it) or death metal, or rap, or whatever the flavor of the month is nowadays with the cool kids; doesn't mean when you were a tween kids didn't listen to bad music back then.

Actually, growing up in my household, I didn't listen to bad music. My parents raised me on good music like the Rolling Stones, the Who, Van Morrison, The Police, Bob Dylan, and the Grateful Dead. (etc. etc. etc.) Later, I broadened out into non-radio rock, so I managed to avoid your Nickelbacks and Simple Plans. So maybe you should think before making generalized statements?

It's not just now that kids are listening to bad music, they always have; some of us were just more talented at avoiding it.

I hate Guitar Hero. I only read the article because I want to make sweet love to Aly and AJ.

That said, who decided Pink was the international color for women? If I were a chick, I'd get that shit changed to a radder color.

First of all, you obviously don't know anything about me. I'm not a dude and I listen to a lot of "mainsteam" stuff. It isn't about how popular it is, it's about talent.

Big breasted women with no talent have been successful for years, lip syncing their way to the top. It isn't anything new, but this kind of "Disney rock" as I like to call it, is far worse than even the worst Britney Spears song.

Are these girls the White Supremist group that got some press a couple years back? I'd think not, lest it surely be mentioned SOMEWHERE in this article, but I figured I'd ask.

Also, these guitars are only available for Wii and PS2--since girls obviously would not be playing a PS3 or 360.

Blech.

sheesh people

My point was that people need to stop thinking that only "NOW" kids are listening to bad music. People have been listening to bad music for years and it has changed.

Necros and djduffy, both of you need to grow a pair. I wasn't saying or implying you guys listen to bad music. I was just pointing out how stupid it is to criticize "kids these days" for the choice of music of deaf-toned 12 year old girls.

is it wrong that I kind of want that ridiculous pink heart-shaped guitar? if it works as well as the real thing (which, lets face it, it probably won't...) I'm gettin' one. I need a second rock band guitar at some point anyway, yeah?

In my opinion, I was raised right, on Springsteen, The Beatles, The Monkees, Peter Gabriel, Paul Simon, The Police... there's no reason for this teenie-bop crap to exist. It's lowest-common-denominator garbage, and probably one of the reasons the kids seem a whole lot stupider and more shallow today.

Frankly, I think society needs a touch of elitism, because this pandering isn't helping anyone. Perky, attractive 15-year-olds singing vapid lyrics over generic power chords is not excellence. I'm all for people expressing and enjoying themselves, but if you don't stop aiming for the gutter, you'll never leave it.

Honestly they aren't too bad looking I suppose. Really though, I never got the "its 4 grls so it must be pink" thing. The girls I am close to in real life don't even like the colour that much.
