Lifetime TV: we bet female gamers can't wait to micromanage Sally's Spa photo

Hey ladies, put those Halo controllers down. Sure, you've proven over the course of video game development that great games made for guys can also appeal to you, but Lifetime TV knows you're really crying out for something else.  Warcraft?  Too violent.  Nintendogs?  Too obvious. Wait until we put you in charge of building an empire with pedicures!

The Lifetime cable network and digital media company RealNetworks Inc. announced a partnership this week to create a series of downloadable games for women. The first game, "Sally's Salon," is set to launch July 25 on RealArcade, RealNetworks' casual games site, and on Lifetime's own Web site. In it, players direct Sally through a virtual beauty salon by performing and customizing beauty services and hiring employees.

If only I had a vagina!  The concept seems to have gone way over my head, but we can only hope it will fill the casual games void that Dope Wars did for little boys worldwide.  Although not confirmed, future Lifetime titles were also rumored.  Be on the look out for Being on the phone with mom for hours and I went shopping for something but I also bought all this other shit on RealNetworks someday.

I want to say this is condescending towards women, but for guys they go high-octane gun fights and explosions, so I guess we're being stereotyped, too. DAMN!

Finally, a game for ALL the ladies.

You can all finally stop bitchin' about Tomb Raider being a shitty example of grrl gaming and it being sexist.

Now you can go get your hair done instead. How compelling this must be...

I actually got a hold of the storyline in one Lifetime TV's latest games. It features Meredith Birney's portrayal of a housewife who was beatened severely with a frying pan, only to turn her life around, and divorce her once dispersed husband and looks for moral compromise from the man she called her father. It's called, "Beatened Wife, Beatened Dreams". Expect countless sequel after sequel, only on Lifetime: Where we show women getting battered and abused which apparently is supposed to develop female empowerment.

They should just add wife beating and sexual harassment to a new version of Facade and slap the lifetime label. God, I wish I could pick channels for my package individually.

@Niero:
"If only I had a vagina!"

I find it very amusing that this post comes right after the "Menstruation: Mother Nature's Horrifying Secret" picture.

I don't know whether to bash them for being stupid or commend them on doing something that doesnt have anything to do with Mary Kay Laternou. Fuck lifetime and fuck whoever it is that watches lifetime. I swear to god, do women even watch lifetime?

It seems like women should feel patronized and stereotyped. But, idk that may be just me. Just like when I see a game like leisure suit larry, I think, "what dumbass is actually going to pay money for this when you could get porn for that same money?"
