Life with PlayStation is delayed, in case you didn't notice photo

Life with PlayStation, Sony's new online information service, was scheduled for release in August after its original launch month of July was pushed back. For those who haven't noticed, it is now September 2, so you could reasonably assume that the service is, once again, delayed. You'd be right to assume it, too.

"We're still pushing some paperwork on Life with PlayStation -- so hold tight just a bit longer," pleaded SCEA senior development manager R&D, Noam Rimon. "We know you're eager to check it out for yourself, so we're working hard to get it in your hands. Stay tuned."

Life with PlayStation is expected to perform many of the duties of the Nintendo's extra channels, only more streamlined. Rolling both the Wii's news and weather channels into one, Life with PlayStation will be accessible from the PS3's XMB and will also be linked with the Folding@Home project.

Although not as highly anticipated or as delayed as Home, the last thing Sony needs is yet another delayed project. It's becoming somewhat self-satirical.

I have a computer that does this. Even a Wii. Don't care about this feature.

This is what happens when you get active updates for a system instead of getting it all in one large "fall" update. If Microsoft released their new additions to the 360's software throughout the year, you'd be sure to see delays like these. Not Home type of delays though, but still....if everything was in one lump it would be easier to pad yourself with extra time.

@ Takeshi you aren't the only one- I want this too, my ps3 gets a lot of play since I also stream media locally on the network and I have been trying out the playon streaming software (which is actually pretty cool- I may just plunk the $30 to buy it once the trial is up) and it would be nice to have the functionality in the box so that i don't have to start up the wii or walk to my computer when I want to do things like check the weather and such. Besides that, like home- it looks neat.

I'll be pumped whenever it gets here. It came out of nowhere, so I can be patient and wait for some free added functionality that I never expected to get in the first place.

Sony needs to get their act together. I was expecting the HOME Beta and this service last month as promised by Sony. I was not really hyped for this but a promise is a promise. Anyways, Jim doesn't have to worry too much since he has no PS3 right now.
