Lewis Carroll + Gorillaz + Warioware = Record Tripping photo

Cool.

As much as I'm a fan of straining weird analogies, there isn't a single one to be found in this post's title: Record Tripping is quite literally (A) made up of minigames, (B) set to a simultaneous soundtrack of Gorillaz backbeats and an audiobook recording of Alice in Wonderland, and (C) controlled almost entirely using the mousewheel.

While scrolling up or down alters some part of the game world (turning the dial on a safe, for example), it also turns the player into a DJ of children's literature. Every upward or downward scroll jumps the audio recording forward or backward, resulting in inexplicably awesome moments where, while trying to guide a plant seed into a pot of soil, you'll hear a posh-sounding woman inadvertently become part of a techno remix. At times it feels like Frontier Psychiatrist: The Game, and that's definitely a good thing.

Play it here.

I thought it was linked here before, maybe I stumbled to it, but interesting game.
A bit on the easy side, so I did something to make my reaction times slower and my music appreciation greater, and had a fantastic time until it was over.

I don't think "backbeats" means what you think it means.

Wow, music from the Gorillaz, Beck and Death Cab. I must have had a Tyler Durden moment and ran off and made a game without knowing it.

really cool idea, but not the most fun thing in the world to play. I did enjoy the first play through solely on how fresh the idea felt, but I probably won't replay it.

Pfft. If you followed Tiff's blog you would've found out about this 2 weeks ago. :)

Good stuff though. I found it very trippy to play.

That was very impressive. I had one of those "Why didn't I think of that" moments while playing this game. It's so simple yet so fun. I hope they make some more levels or a sequel soon.

I let out a fanboyish squeal when I heard Death Cab chime in. Favorite band.

Gorillaz are also incredible, and the Spoon and Beck tracks are incredibly welcome as well.
