I don't know much about homebrewing or modding, but I do know something cute and nostalgic when I see it. Level 1-1 is kind of played out by now—if a level editor exists for any game, it is a divine rule of the universe that Level 1-1 must be recreated—but it's an impressive, and rather hasty, effort nonetheless. The framerate is totally buggered (probably because it's running in a Wii emulator), but I'm not one to judge.
Like I said, this isn't really my area of expertise, but if you're interested in Reggie!, you can check out more details and screenshots here. So far, it features sprite, object, and block editing with more coming soon. I have to wonder if that includes Super Guide functionality, although I doubt it.
If, like me, you take a more hands-off approach to gaming and prefer watching videos and reading text, Nick's got you covered: you can check out his review and his Super Guide demonstration.
Joseph Leray is a founding Destructoid editor and has better hair than you. He speaks French and needs to send us his updated bio in English, preferably.

how kool is it that I came across this article at the exact same time my wife was playing 1-1 on the new game for the first time! gotta love some homebrew.
Yep, I'm impressed. If the homebrew community can put together a level editor this quickly, I hope it means we might someday see a Wii channel or something like that for NSMB level editing/sharing.
My only single complaint is that the soundtrack feels too low key. It's just not as catchy, epic or memorable as past 2D Mario platformer games. However, everything else about the game is satisfying.
One of the best things about the game in my opinion is how it practically includes all all of the classic old enemies from Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario World. The enemy variety is excellent.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Or just the whole of SMW. Super Mario Bros is good, but Super Mario World is better.
