Let the crappy add-ons commence! Wii Fit gets a 'yoga mat' photo

Wii Fit hasn't even hit shelves yet, but that hasn't stopped the third party rubbish from kick starting. Introducing the Wii Fit yoga mat, a special piece of cloth that you need to own if you're serious about losing weight. Why? Well, it's green of course!

For the low, low price of £19.99, you too could own this piece of sh*t that's guaranteed to increase your Wii Fit enjoyment by a whopping 0%! The yoga mat "is designed to be placed between flooring and the Wii Balance Board to reduce impact and provide body support," according to manufacturer Hori. That's worth twenty quid of anybody's money, because I've never seen a piece of cloth until Hori invented it.

This mat is officially licensed, so you don't have to worry it about it being crap. I don't know about you guys, but I've already ordered ten thousand million of them! I got them on special offer with a handful of magic f*cking beans!

i actually already have one. it makes sense if you have wooden flooring rather than a carpet. paid half that price tho. for... a...green....mat. yes even my girlfriend took the piss.

but whatever.

you can knock wii fit all you like but its got this gamer ready to buy one and lose some pounds by trying to reduce my tummy age or whatever nintendoism they attach to it.

it might be only as effective as a work out video, but fuck it, its a work out video for people who would never do that stuff.

i also look forward to EA ssx title that uses the balance board, sounds like a great idea.

Yup 20 quid for something easily substituted by using something else. Wood floors you say? How about putting a dishtowel under it? Paper towels? Shit if you want stack a few sheets of paper under it, or an old t-shirt. Come on people don't spend money on this crap, use that money saved to go get drunk like the rest of us.

It's a rug. It's 5-15 bucks at Target, you're paying extra because it has Wii Fit written on it..just like you'd pay extra if it had the name of some other game or movie or whatever on it.

Welcome to reality? I'm beginning to think you're trolling your own blog with these Wii posts. Or maybe just catering to people who would actually use an old t-shirt or paper towels in place of a rug.... (I guess that could fly in dorm room or mom's basement?)

People buy exercise mats and rugs everyday, you're just popping a forehead vein because this one has Wii written on it and Nintendo said 'OK'?

I really want to meet the Nintendo fan that has bought every officially licensed thing just so I can laugh in his/her face.

Well, to be fair, the mat DOES look like it's made of the actual, non-slip padding that other yoga mats are made of.

Though I'd assume that the WiiFit board has some sort of non-slip rubber on it already. If it doesn't though, this thing would become a freakin' must have! Unless you want WiiFit to break your SPINE!

Oh, and dish towels, paper towels, etc. would negate any non-slip that the WiiFit board already has so that would be a quick way to incur medical costs.

In conclusion, yes, it's lame, but yoga mats are sold for this price (and often more) every day of the week.

DinnertimeNinja: Yeah, but you could make your own for a fraction of the price. I've seen a sweet DDR pad customization that reduced noise from underneath while providing a stable base. It needn't cost you twenty quid (which is nearly forty bucks, I should point out) for a stupid green mat.

Also, if the balance board doesn't have some grip of its own to prevent it slipping, it has no business being sold. I don't think not buying this will make the Balance Board dangerous.

Not sure why I'm surprised at the response, considering i'm posting this to a gaming news forum, but a yoga mat is not a piece of carpet or a rug. Regardless of the need to own a Wii Fit branded version, a yoga mat is pretty essential to practicing yoga, which seems to be a big part of Wii Fit.

What? Yoga is part of WiiFit? How does Yoga helps battle the fat? Why didn't they call it Wii Zen instead?

If it was essential it would not be a third part add-on. It's not essential, it's a waste of money.

@Lightthrower:
Many Yoga postures can be quite strenuous on the physical form, and practice over time can do such things as increase muscle flexibility, tendon strength, stamina, etc

I could make my own, but I probably won't. I waste money on stupid nintendo shit all the time. Remeber those overpriced mario shoes from RunAthletics? Yeah - I'm wearing them right now, probably worth half what I paid for them! LOL I don't know why I do it.

Maybe it's genetics?

I come from a long line of dumb people. My mom collects cookie tins with CocaCola written on them. They're unreasonably expensive because of their association with that bubbly sugar-beverage, but it makes her happy so...

Well, Hori does tend to make pretty good stuff, so if nothing else the mat's quality might be descent. That doesn't keep it from being totally useless, though.

just like a hori arcade stick, all the wii-fit pros are going to need this yoga mat to perform advanced techs and the like. It's going to be amazing.

I was wondering when they would release this. My yoga mat was only $5, and it works really well by itself. Never needed a Wii-fit to do Yoga. Can't see how Nintendo will help me stretch my hamstrings.

Don't hate, Sterling. Congratulate.

It's called the free enterprise system. Don't like - don't buy. Or come up with your own scam to separate Nintendo fans from their money.

So it's less of a yoga mat and more of a anti-sliding mat.

Jim, looks like you should do much less blogging and bitching and more wii fit. Who cares if wii makes a non-slip yoga mat... more power to those crazy chinese/japanese/whatever bastards and their awesome game accessories. Oh and whoever wrote you could use paper towels must not know much, if you use new paper towels every time you play you would spend WAY more on Brawny than a wii yoga mat. Good day sirs and mams.
