Leon goes mobile: Resident Evil: Degeneration on iPhone photo

Leon! Leeeeeeoooon! You got a phone call.

Well, I don't know if Leon has an iPhone, but he is in an iPhone game based on the CG movie from Capcom. Resident Evil: Degeneration has "arcade-style" controls for both the iPHone and the iPod Touch, thanks to a virtual d-pad on-screen. Weapon reload is done by tilting the device.

You'll follow both Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield, working to save survivors in Harvardville airport from virus-infected zombies. You'll fire your guns at these zombies as always, this time aided by laser targeting. The game is presented in third-person, with full 3D graphics that don't look bad at all for a mobile game (think PlayStation). And don't forget the accelerometer: Should you be bogged down by zombies, simply shake the device to knock them off.

Resident Evil: Degeneration is available on the iTunes App Store now for $6.99. We hope to have a review for you next week.

I hate phone games. It's so hard to control them with the phone pad.

I heard this was a straight up port of the N-Gage game only now with touch controls. I'll pass.

The controls are irresponsive.... Then again my IpodTouch is greasy as hell.

but for an 'Iphone game' it's decent.

It's available on Verizon too. I'm holding out for a demo though.

Wow, Leon sure is struggling alot just to fend off a normal weak zombie. If this were Chris Redfield we were talking about, he would bitchslap that zombie into nothing!

That looks pretty sweet. I have a feeling they might have phoned it in a bit though, (ouch. apologies.), as i haven't heard of it before. The iphone can handle much better graphics too, (think PS2), so it will be interesting to see what EA's lineup will be.

That said, its nice to see more legit titles arriving on the device.

I haven't been able to comfortably use virtual buttons in any game on the iPhone. It's a neat concept, but it feels like a forced experience.

I've tried the demo for the N-Gage version, and I have to say it's pretty good for a phone game. I dunno about this iPhone garbage, though.
