Leigh Alexander talks mature games and mature 'gamers'

8:30 AM on 10.12.2013

Almost 2 weeks ago on Sup Holmes (now on iTunes) we welcomed former Destructoid editor, Podtoid regular, and current essayist, satirist, and speaker Leigh Alexander to the program. She even teamed up with Jonathan Mann for a song about GTA V. Pretty adorable.

We talked with Leigh about how writing about games has changed over the years, ways that the new GTA could do better at "punching upwards", if videogames are becoming more inclusive, what it's been like to grow up along with gaming as a medium, and a lot more.

Thanks again to Leigh for appearing on the show. You're welcome back any time, as a guest or as guest host. Tune in tomorrow at 1pm PST/4pm EST when we welcome Ryan Vandendyck (Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Citizens of Earth) to the program. It's going to be spooktacular.

Some quick thoughts on Grand Theft Auto V for current-gen consoles

Grand Theft Auto V was one of my favorite games of last year, mostly due to the insanely fun Heist missions in the campaign, and the detailed sandbox of Los Santos. It suffered from some of the same trappings as every GT...more

Hot Hot Heat: Heists are finally coming to GTA Online soon

Rockstar's been notably tardy on its delivery of the much-anticipated heists to Grand Theft Auto Online. In fact, the delay was so great that most players wrote the feature off as a promise that would go unfulfilled. That's n...more
