LEGO Rock Band 'value' priced at $49.99 for PS3, Wii, 360 photo

Although it will be the second of two Rock Band-branded games available this holiday (the first being The Beatles: Rock Band), LEGO Rock Band won't rock your wallet as much as you might have thought.

Games retailer GameStop is listing LEGO Rock Band for the cool price of $49.99 across all console platforms -- Wii, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. That's $10 less than most big-named games at retail, perhaps priced to appeal more to the family demographic.

We've confirmed with Warner Bros. and Harmonix that these prices are the real and final deal, so go sock away that $10 for some downloadable content or candy. Man, do we like candy...

Everyone should buy this just to say "$60 bucks for a game is way too much!" Kudos to Warner Bros and Harmonix for doing this!

I hate to say it, but the New-style PS3 boxes (I do really like them) look mildly like a brand steal(i.e. very similar) of the 360 box art, with the logo on the left over a subtle gradient and separated from lower art by a thin brand-colored bar, even more so with the name/logo of the online service on the right.

any word on what kind of music is going to be in it, or if it will be compatible with the regular rock band game's DLC?

@allisonaxe David Bowie and Iggy Pop are in it, alongside The Final Countdown, the Ghostbusters theme, and (rumored) Never Gonna Give You Up. Plus Queen and I think Devo.

No word on DLC compatibility, but it will be exportable to Rock Band 2.

Yeah... Still waiting till this is cheap or just getting it to flip it for the song export. I liked the Lego Batman and Star Wars titles, but I'm just not feeling this one yet.

@allisonaxe: No official word regarding DLC compatibility yet, but keep your eyes on Destructoid in the weeks to come (*hint, hint*)!

Yes. Yes you can. The songs from Lego RB will be exportable for RB 1 and 2. Good news for all! :D

Woohoo! I was gonna pick this up anyway "for my son" at least thats's the excuse I can use to justify me buying more video games.

Looks like the UK RRP is £40 instead of the usual £50, play.com and amazon.co.uk both have it listed for £35.

Hmm, interesting that the Family Games dealy is on the 360 version but not the Wii version.

I might give this one a shot--if it turns out the Iggy Pop song is the theme from Space Goofs, I'll buy two copies.

This is just a random guess, but it's possible they didn't feel the need to include "family oriented" on the Wii sticker because the system is inherently family oriented.

Wait, WB and TellTale? Not EA? Strange, but still is Harmonix, so...

Ack, branding explosion! WB Games, TTGames, MTV Games, Harmonix, EA and LEGO.

Awesome.

And the $10 will probably go toward the license to export. Great.

Wait, so $60 is too much, but $50 is a-ok? Really? Because if you have a problem with 60 dollars being "way too much", I don't think that 10 dollars would make everything dandy and cool.

$60 is generally okay, when you take into account inflation - did people forget paying well over $60 for some SNES games during a better economy? - but $50 is really great. It makes me feel much better about buying a Lego version of a game I already play to death.

I wonder why only the 360 version has all the brand logos, though?

@Monodi

I imagine that the lack of an EA logo on the covers stems from the omission of bundle packs which the company has distributed since Rock Band. WB Games is likely picking up the tab on this project, and for good reason -- more money for them!

Are Lego Indiana Jones or Lego Batman gonna be unlockable characters? :D
Maybe we will be able to customize it by ourselves.

I had fun listening to Ghost Buster themes on the loading screen everytime I die in that game. So, I might pick it up just for that.

$50 is what wii games usually cost, shouldn't this be $40 to keep true to the "budget pricing?"

Nice to see someone has a little consideration for their consumers, even if further discs are wholly unnecessary for band games.

@Kingtobo 1000% agreed though I was gonna buy this even if it was $60
