Legendary unused Mega Man boss is news to me photo

When Cowzilla posted those mind blowing Mega Man wallpapers last weekend, I double-freaked out. The first freak out was over the quality of the artwork. The second freak out was over the fact that I didn't recognize every character. I love Mega Man a lot more than most 33-year-olds, but I still didn't know about all of these cute little bastards.

With a little research (and help from MegaStryke), I got them all; except for one. That weird yellow dude in the corner. Who was he? There wasn't even a mention of him Udon's highly extensive Mega Man Official Complete Works (a book that features such obscure Mega Man designs as the cigarette wielding Smoke Man and the elephant-headed, sunglasses loving Elephant Borg Man).

Turns out, this new mystery man was yet another unused boss design, one that Capcom doesn't often talk about. His name is Bond Man, and he's all about glue. He's only been "officially" depicted once, in a Mega Man manga from 1995, but apparently, he's got quite the following in Japan. There's even reason to hope that he may show up in Mega Man Universe. The Mega Man Network has an extensive write up on the situation. It's required reading for any Mega Man fan.

Heh. Good time for Megaman news. I just bought Zero collection, and I'm in the middle of getting torn to shreds by Zero 1.

Bondman sounds interesting, but what kinda weapon would Megaman get from him?

Reminds me of...what's his name, Glue Man from MegaPhilX's fangame. He had a nice sounding theme too.

Kinda looks like what Napalm would later become, except less tank-y.

That's a pretty unique ability I haven't seen in many if any older games. Glue the floor and set traps that cause temporary paralysis, essentially. A lot like the "fall through the ground" item in Brawl.

Hmm releasing him into an actual game could be a sticky situation.

I saw it at Capcom Unity a while back (thanks jgonzo!). The character is a really great realization of that idea...who else could make a glue-based boss look so cool?

Bond man makes me think of Connery. Now that would be an epic boss.

Dr. Wily here with another fantastic robot. He's called Bond Man. He's gonna fix, fill and seal all of your problems. He's an ever-lasting bond.

Wow, that's actually really neat. I noticed him as well, but I had initially thought that it was from one of the GB Mega Man games or something

I gotta say that it would have been pretty interesting to see him. Also, I betcha that Bond Man's weapon would've been Thunder Ball HARAHARHARHAR

See I would have guessed he was glue-based but his name (as usual with most Mega Man boss names) would have eluded me.. I mean they could make a tiger boss and call him Tofu-chompa-mon and somehow have a good reason for it..
