Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks available December 7 photo

Along with its Holiday line-up for Wii and Nintendo DS, Nintendo has announced that Link's new DS adventure, The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks will be released on December 7.

Nintendo also dropped the game's North American box art on our asses, which you can see in the gallery. It features Link, a train, and a big, menacing knight carrying a big, menacing sword.

Releasing anything in December, after most of the holiday shopping has been done, seems a bit risky. But this is Nintendo we're talking about, and I suppose the power the Zelda franchise has to drive people (and gift-buyers) to retail shouldn't be underestimated.

That's weird. I was just wondering when this game was going to be released a couple minutes.

I got to play it at PAX, and it pretty much is just like Phantom Hourglass.

I probably won't be getting it on day one, I'm putting it on my Xmas list.

Phantom Chuo-Chuo!
To many good titles this coming holiday season. But the industries won't learn that we want titles spread over the year.

So to commemorate the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the Japanese are dropping a new Zelda game on American soil? Hopefully the analogy doesn't hold for the game's quality...

Sadly most people, while aware of Pearl Harbor don't even know what day and sadly for some even the year it happened.

"Remember Pear- Oh! A Zelda game!"

@Dexter345

Strictly speaking, the quality of the Pearl Harbor attack was quite high. It was the rest of the war that Japan ran into trouble with.

OMG, this is perfect!!! My mom has just picked up gaming this past summer, and is absolutely obsessed with Zelda. She's beat Phantom Hourglass, Minnish Cap, A Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, and, just yesterday, Ocarina of Time. And now, they announce that this comes out the day before her birthday. She's going to be so excited, lol.

I'm looking forward to this game, controlling that huge knight dude looks fun. I'm not sure I'm going to like the train segments, but we'll see what happens. I trust the franchise, so I think it'll be okay.

Link looks bad-ass in that pic. His sword must be made out of cocaine.

"after most of the holiday shopping has been done"

Umm, what? Have you worked retail Chesterino? Holiday shopping, especially for electronic goods, goes a good long while after Black Friday, and at really steady paces. Certainly not the level of black friday, but things are still busy.

ugh.
I'd give one of, if not both of my testicles for a zelda on the WII. An actual WII version, not just a port. BUT NO WAGGLE DAMN IT. the motion controls suck. All we need is the pointer.
