Secondly, all the images in the gallery aren't even HD.. They're horribly low quality.
...so i can rip it to my PC so I can play it on it with 1080p goodness.
NOT PIRACY! :D
And Dolphin can be used by anyone with a computer, including people who didn't pirate. I'll be trying this with my copy of the game.
"First of all, why the hell are you advertising pirated software for a game that isn't even out yet and encouraging people to use it."
The software isn't -necessarily- pirated, as some legitimate copies of the game are out there. I also don't see anywhere where the staff said people should pirate the game to emulate it. If you rip your own ISO, you aren't doing anything wrong at all.
Nobody here thought all the various sony hack attacks and pirated software were tolerable, so why this?
Those interested, should google "Dolphin Emulator" and check out the forums- they can help get you set up or answer any questions you might have. With that said, NO ONE will help you pirate the game. The Dolphin Community is very Anti-Piracy. Buy the game, buy a compatible DVD-ROM drive (If you already do not have one) that can read/rip Wii Games- put in your Wii game of choice, and enjoy it on the emulator in 1080p.
What you will need:
Bluetooth (Integrated or a USB adapter)
Wii-mote (Some games CAN use xbox 360 controllers but for Skyward Sword- you cannot.)
Motion plus (Or Wiimote motion plus) for games that need it (Such as Skyward sword)
Sensor Bar.
That's it.
The latest version of Dolphin does have some slight issues playing the game- completely playable, but at times may show "banding" on textures. But, the previous build of Dolphin (7719m)runs the games nearly (if not) perfectly.
The correct way to use the emulator is to have a compatible DVD-ROM drive that can read wii games- you can then read the copy of the game you PURCHASED.
If you are wondering how people are playing this already (Such as myself)Skyward Sword has released in a lot of European countries- and Americans such as myself, who didn't want to wait for the 11/22 street date, imported the game LEGALLY.
That being said, this looks pretty impressive, and it'd be great if the Wii U can do something like this natively.
thats pretty sad.
I swear, this just gets me more and more pissed off at the Wii. The games look GORGEOUS in 1080p, and yet the hardware can't even handle its own games well enough.
Have they worked out the whole exporting saves to an actual Wii console yet? I know saves FROM a console work in Dolphin, but I can't get any exported Dolphin saves to work on the Wii hardware itself.
@fetus milk stop trolling. It is just sad.
The benefits of playing it on the PC are the increased resolutions and graphics. To some people, it's not worth the trouble just for a higher resolution. But to some of us, it is.
You can export saves to an actual wii console- although I have never done it myself. I believe it requires you to have a modded wii though in order to get the file on the Wii.
And that is were we enter the "gray" legal ground. So far, Dolphin is up and running because it is not breaking any laws. Or at least not yet. Or at least none recognized by the US or the EU.
Are there people out there who are using it in not so legal ways? Absolutely. There are people out there who just torrent the games and don't even own a wii console.
But, my view on the matter in regards to how I personally use it- I own a wii, and I buy the games I emulate- I am doing no harm by emulating these games on my PC for visual benefits.
But it seems like we will have to agree to disagree on this matter.
YES! There is a thriving home-brew community. It's one of the lesser known benefits to using Dolphin.
Yeah, I figured that. Huh... Well, I've got the Homebrew Channel on my Wii, but I don't want to hack it any farther than that right now, so I guess I'm stuck.
"HLE removes the common source of legality issues, by not requiring the users to provide it with the bootstrap software used by the original platform to create an environment for applications to run in. Because the emulator itself provides such environment, it no longer needs system ROM images, bootstrap cartridge images or other software obtained from a physical copy of the emulated system, a process which usually resulted in an unclear status in the light of copyright law."
This is not illegal if:
A) You own Skyward Sword
B) Own a Wii, and thus have the legal right to rip the BIOS.
If you fulfill both of those requirements - congratulations, you are legally playing Skyward Sword on the PC.
People also somehow think homebrew is illegal. News flash: the US Government stated that things like jailbreaking are OK. If you own a product, as long as you're not stealing software, it is A-OK for you to "unlock" the full potential of the product that you purchased.
It would be awesome if Nintendo contracted the dolphin emulation group for its backwards compatibility in the wiiu, though. The industry should try to integrate some of these kinds of things more often, as the result can be far greater than the fallout of outright war.
