Square Enix's Legend of Mana is heading to the PSN's PSOne Classics channel, that you may indulge in its delectable wares on the PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Portable -- hey gang, it's your choice.
The game is set in the world of Fa'Diel, which has become somewhat formless after the Mana Tree was burned down. The player's job is to complete quests in order to find special artifacts that can be placed on a map to rebuild the world. There are over sixty quests and artifacts to uncover, because this comes from an age where it was standard to beat in a game in six months.
The game got mixed reviews when it launched, but it's most certainly a pedigree titles. It's awesome to see the North American PSN get so many of those lately.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I still have Secret of Mana waiting to be played on VC, dunno if I ever actually did finish it back in the SNES days.
I eagerly await Brave Fencer Musashi.
Now all we need is Threads of Fate, Chrono Cross, and Brave Fencer Musashi. Also, Sony needs to move their ass and finally release Legend of Dragoon as well.
And I don't have a PS3
Additionally, this is one of those games I tend to use as an example of why nonlinearity is not always a good thing.
"Except for 90% of the games that could be done in less then 20 minutes."
um. no. 90%? LESS then 20 minutes? You're so full of shit.
I sure wish it was more like Secret of Mana... at least we'll always have Secret of Evermore though, right?
If you're into heavy systems based RPGs, this is probably very relevant to your interests.
And yes, I'm waiting for Brave Fencer Musashi as well. My disc is so scratched I can't get past the transition after beating the fire boss. =(
This is the game I whole heartedly herald as my favorite game of all time. I recently went back and started a fresh character(as I still has disk copies). Mmm... it's as good a beat'em up RPG hybrid as I remember.
Too bad I never got to play it coop before. Wonder if this will have it now with PSN support. That would be awesome.

But seriously all I want to know is: does it have online multiplayer?
