Oh ESRB, you never fail to delight with your game release spoilers. Yes, once again America's game rating board has spilled the beans on a PSOne Classic, rating Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver for release on the PS3 and PSP. One of the most fondly regarded action games of two generations ago will finally be available for download in the PlayStation Store.
A sequel to the vampire-friendly Legacy of Kain, Crystal Dynamics' Soul Reaver tells the story of Kain's son Raziel, who has a problem with his old man due to the fact that he killed him. It's a dark and brutal game that garnered considerable praise upon release, and is still held up as a fine example of the genre today.
Yep, can't wait for this one!

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I'd still like more classic RPGs like Xenogears and Arc the Lad, but, hopefully, that will come with time.
Here's to a PS4 with full backwards compatibility (I hope Sony realizes how important this is).
Now give me Tomba! D:
Hope this will come to the EU PSN store too. I have no desire to have to set up an NA account, but Blood Omen hasn't come out on the EU store yet, in spite of coming out on the NA store on 10 September, and there is no mention if it will or won't. Instead all the EU PSN store seems to get in way of PSOne classics are mediocre disney licenses. Little Mermaid anyone?
For me, that's almost true. It's not the best game ever (I needs me some RPG elements, not simple item/ability collection through boss battles), but it's a must buy.
@The Young Scot
They actually had quite a few games. 2 Soul Reavers: 2 Kain games: and one final mash-up with both that brings closure.
They did finish the series. They had Soul Reaver I on PSOne, Soul Reaver II on PS2, and Soul Reaver: Defiance on PS2 and XBOX.
So the best game in the series will be up for download. Thanks Sony for finally showing us some love.
ACTUALLY KILL.
"To be continued"
Blood Omen was my favorite game on ps1 for a long time too!
Did the sequel to this game start back exactly where this one left off?
